Republican Videographers Indicted!

Think back, if you will to the murders committed by Republican Ammosexual, Robert Dear, at the Planned Parenthood location in Colorado Springs.  He admitted that he did so over Planned Parenthood selling body parts, something they do not do.  Here are the seemingly unrelated findings of a Harris County grand jury.

A grand jury here that was investigating accusations of misconduct against Planned Parenthood has instead indicted two abortion opponents who made undercover videos of the organization.

Prosecutors in Harris County said one of the leaders of the Center for Medical Progress — an anti-abortion group that made secretly recorded videos purporting to show Planned Parenthood officials trying to illegally profit from the sale of fetal tissue — had been indicted on a charge of tampering with a governmental record, a felony, and on a misdemeanor charge related to purchasing human organs.

That leader, David R. Daleiden, 27, the director of the center, had posed as a biotechnology representative to infiltrate Planned Parenthood affiliates and surreptitiously record his efforts to procure tissue for research. Another center employee, Sandra S. Merritt, 62, was indicted on a felony charge of tampering with a governmental record.

The record-tampering charges accused Mr. Daleiden and Ms. Merritt of making and presenting fake California driver’s licenses, with the intent to defraud, for their April meeting at Planned Parenthood in Houston.

Abortion opponents claimed that the videos, which were released starting in July, revealed that Planned Parenthood was engaged in the illegal sale of body parts — a charge that the organization has denied and that has not been supported in numerous congressional and state investigations triggered by the release of the videos.

On Monday, the Harris County district attorney, Devon Anderson, said in a statement that grand jurors had cleared Planned Parenthood of any wrongdoing

You’ll fond the connection between the two crimes in Chris Hayes’ report and interview of Cecile Richards. President of Planned Parenthood Action Fund,

First, kudos to the Republican DA, who did her job and did not suppress the truth.  This is so uncommon among Republicans, that it is an occasion for high praise.  Her political career, as a Republican, is over.

The report confirmed that that the Republican terrorist, who committed the Colorado Springs murder admitted that the belief Planned Parenthood was selling body parts, occasioned by the  video, was the reason for his crime.

When a lesser felony leads to the commission of a murder by another person the perpetrator of the lesser felony is also charged with murder.  Therefore Daleiden and Merritt should be indicted for the murder of the three people pictured above.

  1. Unfortunately, there is a branch of my family who are right-wing, Evengelical homophobes. I may have nentioned this previously. When our wonderful Cecil was slaughtered, my niece posted on Facebook "there is more talk of killing just an animal than there is about Planned Parenthood killing babies and ripping out their body parts to sell." I unfriended her on Facebook.

  2. Many state other investigations had also cleared Planned Parenthood; I'm glad this one could lay charges against those who really violated the law.  Maybe that will finally stop the absurd GOP actions with no grounds other than intent to harm women.

  3. I'll be pleased as punch if they're convicted of fraud and trafficking in human organs.

They've already admitted they used fake IDs, so I'm not sure how they can get around the  fraud indictment.  Although there is a legal difference between tampering with a REAL driver's license as opposed to making a counterfeit one from some online template.

  4. Devon Anderson appears to be an amazing person.  She was not initially elected to the job, but was appointed – by Rick Perry – upon the death of the previous DA, her husband, in 2013.  (There was a special election in 2014 which confirmed her for the remainder of his term.)  She has filed to run for reelection in 2016.  Harris County is Houston and fairly liberal for Texas so she may have a chance.  I wish her luck.  America needs a Republican Party with people in it who are able and willing to do the jobs for which they were elected – something currently in short supply.  BTW, though hampered by Texas law, she is also big on eliminating animal cruelty.  If she wants to switch parties, I believe I for one would welcome her.

But we can't expect her to indict anyone for a murder that did not take place in her jurisdiction.  That duty would be up to my (Republican) DA.  And I would not hold my breath.

  5. I am so happy for this outcome, but unfortunately, too much damage has been done.  You know I have plenty of right wing friends and they firmly believe the original story.  They will not let it die down, but keep insisting that it is true.  Too many women depend on PP for their health care and will have none if it is defunded.  The Republicans are determined to do just that.  We finally have a dem candidate who might defeat Ron Paul for the Senate.  His name is Jim Gray, he is the mayor of Lexington, Ky.  An openly gay man who got elected twice in this state.  He is very popular state wide.  I have great hope.

  6. I don't see how they can't charge the ones that made the video with murder. That was the reason that Dear said he killed them! That is not a stretch to make them complicit in the murder of three people that didn't deserve it!!!

    • Also, I agree that the DA is toast. She won't ever win another election running as a RepukkklicanT! She is one that I will say is good at her job and doesn't put politics ahead of doing the right thing!!!

    • It's that the DA in Colorado Springs won't do the job, like JD said.

  7. If this would be a film-script for a movie, people would say the plot is too far fetched and unbelievable, LOL. A District Attorney follows instructions of her Republican governor, the same party she belongs to, and puts Planned Parenthood before a grand jury for alleged misconduct and comes out with PP cleared of all wrongdoing and instead the makers of the video, on which  the alleged misconduct was based on, indicted instead. And the governor still isn't grasping how and why the tables have turned on him and foolhardily wants to continue investigating PP.  It is a truly unbelievable plot.

It also shows, again, why it shouldn't matter what party a judge, DA or anyone in the justice system privately adheres to, if they do their job well, and that means independent of politics but based on facts and the law, the outcome should be just and be free of politics too. The judicial system, from SCOTUS to the lowest bench, should be independent of part influence to warrant a decision purely on judicial merit, as happened in this case.

Kudos to DA Devon Anderson, who showed America how it it should be done. I gather she's up for reelection this year and if she has any inkling of what she has meant for the justice system in Texas, she'll go independent this time.

  8. I read about this in yesterday's NY times, much to my pleasure.  These clowns on the right ought to be charged regarding the murdurs in Colorado, which clearly are directly connected to the proopaganda video.  Supporters on the right are making noises about how the immediate charges will impact "undercover" investigations, but, meanwhile 3 people are dead because of the video.  Those on the right are always able to come up with some kind of BS to excuse themselves!

The Center for Medical Progress ought to be disbanded, one way or another, if it turns out that it is just a front for Evangelical horseshit.

    • Greg Abbott, Texas' governor, just as his predecessor who has just recently endorsed Trump, is simply another version of an agenda driven fool with political leverage.  He would probably have his people inveatigate Thomas Jefferson, were TJ still alive!

      • Oh, I guarantee he would.  The right wing Christianists are very unhappy with TJ.  Not the slaveowning, thet's apparently just fine, but the separation of church and state (and the abridged New Testament).

  9. Thanks all,  Hugs!!
