On a scale of one to ten, I feel like something the undertaker left out of the box.  Except for putting my groceries away and brief activities here, I stayed in bed, but slept little, because of the cleaning noise.  I’m going back to bed.  Hugs!!

  1. 4:07 average (still) 4:42.  Please don't eat this.  Watch "Deliverance" instead if you want a scare.  Or, since you are feeling like a zombie, read "Pride and Prejudice and Zombies."  But I do think rest and fluid would be better.

Cartoon – If they do still teach it in school, they probably also still teach that there were "no survivors."  Nuff said.

    • ICYMI, brand new 19 page report on the connection between K-12 education standards and the miitary-base economy

      • I just got a Gwen Graham email (FL candidate) where the author told about accepting a challenge from a teacher to spend a semester in her classroom–and how that change his view on legislation about education.  Think we could get some congress critters to do that?

        • Oh, good gosh, wouldn't that be great?  Some of course would not change if Christ himself returned and explained to to them (they'd be trying to kill him again).

  2. Breaking: The Supreme Cpurt just upheld ObamaCare subsidies in a 6-3 vote.  SS Scalia, Teabag Thomas, and Scalito opposed.  I thinl Roberts and Kennedy were bright enough to realize that the electoral consequences for Republicans would be catastrophic, unless they protected the party from ObamaCare TEAbuggery.

    • Yes, and all the candidates have already gone back to talking about "repeal."  Not even "repeal and replace" any more.  LOL!!

    • I'm going stop doing my "Happy Dance" for just a moment to note that the Rethuglicans really dodged a bullet with this SCOTUS ruling after painting themselves into a corner endlessly railing against OBAMACARE (which I'm sure they now regret calling it.)

Either they would have actually had to do some real work and patched together some type legislation to keep ObamaCare in place in some fashion, or be faced with denying healthcare to millions and millions of Americans.

Bottom Line: If Scalia and the rest of thRethuglican Klan are livid – I'm jumping for joy!

      • BONUS SCHADENFREUDE!

Bristol Palin is preggers … without benefit of a husband … AGAIN!

She's not saying who the father is (the list of possibilities is probably too long) – and she herself characterizes it as a "Huge disappointment" (so much for maternal instinct – but that affliction is undoubtedly genetic).

Maybe Sarah should talk to her good buddy, Rush Limpballs, and have him give her a bottle or two of aspirin that he recommends be placed between a woman's knees for birth control.  (As opposed to his suitcase packed with illegal Viagra … to take on a trip … to the Dominican Republic … where underage boys frequently work as … never mind)

Yep, Pres. Obama is having a damn good week.  Repubicans?  Not so much.

And most certainly, let's keep the innocent little guy or gal Bristol will bring into the world in our thoughts and prayers.  Being born into THAT family, s/he is going to need all the help s/he can get.

    • Most of the Repubs running for re-election are probably relieved, now they don't have to explain to their constituents why they caused them to lose health insurance.

    • Here we go! The best lines from Scalia's dissent include "jiggery-pokery". HUH?

Cartoon ~ They won that battle but sadly they are still losing in their struggles against the government.

    • It seems that SCOTUS had more trouble sleeping with the predicted 8000 deaths on their conscience had they ruled otherwise, knowing full well the GOP had no backup plan, than said GOP. The three who voted against upholding ACA subsidies have no conscience to start with, like the true Republicans they are. Now even the highest court has refused to take down Obamacare you'd be inclined to think the GOP might have learned a lesson and changed its tune. Yeah, right.

  3. 3:13  The hallucinogenic effects are working.  I imagine that I beat TomCat.

    • 2:46  No hallucinations here!  Jerry, you did beat TomCat.  But I beat you both and thats no hallucination!  I wonder if Patty will hallucinate my sasquatch butt into next month?  If she does, at least it isn't a long kick.

Cartoon — Yellow Hair became part of the golden prairie.  I hope the truth is taught in schools.  Here in BC, courses are being added to the social studies programme that tell of the tragedy of the residential schools for First Nations children.  I hope this is not whitewashed.

On the SCOTUS Obamacare decision today, Jeb Bush had this to say:

""As President of the United States, I would make fixing our broken health care system one of my top priorities. I will work with Congress to repeal and replace this flawed law with conservative reforms that empower consumers with more choices and control over their health care decisions. …"

I wonder if that also means that women would have control over their bodies and healthcare decisions?  Hmmm …

      • BTW, temps here hit 33 C (over 91 F) this afternoon.  Tomorrow through Sunday is supposed to be hotter, then thunder storms Monday.  At least it cools down at night . . . currently 24 C (75 F) and it is supposed to go to 14 C (57 F).  That should be great!

    • 3:37 I took too long smelling the flowers instead of solving the puzzle.

  4. SCOTUS also ruled that there is recourse for housing discrimination by disproportionate impact even when there was not intent for fair housing statute cases.

    • PS–PA's Supreme Court ruled that cities could have tighter gun control laws than the state's.

  5. Wow, I am so glad to see SCOTUS use brains, although fleeting! We’ll see what happens when the decision comes down on the Marriage Equality subject! I hope they show as much brains with that one!
TC, hope you are feeling better today. Curl up by the TV and SLEEP when you can!

    • That's one I'm eagerly awaiting, too, Vivian.  The fact that ACA was 6-3 instead of 5-4 makes me more optimistic.

      • I agree – the 6-3 split w/ Kennedy on the correct side is probably a good omen.

That plus the fact that Scalia actually read his petulant, temper-tantrum dissent rant from the bench makes me think he wouldn't have done that if he were on the winning side of one of the major rulings to come.

Scalia was royally pissed – which makes me rapturous.  In fact I'm seriously considering changing my name to "Pure Applesauce" or "Jiggery-Pokery" just to piss him off more (in my own little way).

  6.  I hope you feel better soon!

  7. Poor TC, I do sympathise!

NB I don't know whether this has been seen before, but it is remarkable – a black man and white woman exchange microphones – it is astounding!

Supreme Court: Let gay wedding bells ring from sea to shining sea
The Supreme Court struck down marriage bans nationwide Friday in a 5-4 decision authored by Justice Anthony Kennedy, the fourth landmark ruling advancing LGBT rights he has written.
In the decision, the justices affirmed that same-sex couples can indeed marry in every state in the union.

  9. I hope the cleaning and repairing of the front of your building will be finished after Friday, TomCat, and you'll be able to catch up on some sleep to get rid of this flu. Hold on for one more day and then take all the rest you need. It's no use fooling around with your health, Republicans are not worth it.

  10. Thanks all.  Feel like crap.
