Day 100.  I’m going to stop looking it up every day.  It’s still increasing, until and unless you see “Day 1”.  Today is an authentic TGIF day.  It’s been a busy week.  Next week, I have a Urologist appointment and a dinner appointment with a friend in addition to all the normal survival things.  I’ll also probably meet with a lawyer.  She represents one of my guys, who has a parole hearing in March.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 7:32 (average 7:14).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?  It’s NOT edible!! 🙁

Short Takes:

From Upworthy: If you take a puppy video break today, make sure this is the dog video you watch.

An excellent ides, but cats could have done a much better job of the video than dawgs!!

From The New Yorker: Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker is steadily rising to the top of the 2016 Republican Presidential field because voters are connecting with his “strong and consistent opposition to knowledge,” an aide to Walker said on Thursday.

While Republican candidates of the past, such as Sarah Palin and Michele Bachmann, have capitalized on G.O.P. voters’ hostility toward verifiable facts, the aide said, “Compared to Scott, those two look like rookies.”

Walker has burnished his anti-knowledge credentials in Wisconsin by proposing a three-hundred-million-dollar cut in the University of Wisconsin’s funding and by deleting the phrase “the search for truth” from the values outlined in the university’s mission statement.

“That truth thing was a masterstroke,” the aide said. “Our polling shows that voters who oppose knowledge also have negative feelings about truth.”

But Walker’s longstanding opposition to knowledge may have faced its toughest test during a visit to London, on Wednesday, when an interviewer asked him if he believed in evolution and he refused to answer. “He tried to trick Governor Walker into admitting that he knew something, and Scott didn’t take the bait,” the aide said. “I was watching him do that and I was like, ‘Nailed it.’ ”

Andy got this one wrong. The Fartfuhrer of Fitzwalkerstan certainly does know something. He knows how to take over a prosperous state and trash it. He can’t wait to do the same for the country.

From Daily Kos: On February 10, 2015, a 46-year old ‘self proclaimed’ atheist, took his gun, managed his way into his neighbor’s home, and shot them to death. Craig Stephen Hicks killed three innocent young Muslim students, execution-style, in Chapel Hill, then turned himself in hours later. The lives he stole were Yusor Mohammad Abu-Salha, 21; her husband, Deah Barakat, 23; and her sister, Razan Mohammad Abu-Salha, 19. Yusor and Deah were married just two months ago. All three victims were students, and very loved within the community. Thousands came out to pay tribute in a candlelight vigil held Wednesday night at the UNC (University of North Carolina) campus.

I mention ‘atheist’ in the title because I think it’s important for the media, especially the Liberal media, to make sure the word is not left out. Why? Because if the killer were a self-proclaimed ‘Christian,’ it would be mentioned. And if the killer were a self-proclaimed ‘Muslim,’ it would be mentioned. And what’s really important is for the world to know is this man is not an atheist in any true sense. He’s much different than anything he ‘proclaims’ to be, because this man is an extremist.

Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christians, Republican Supply-side pseudo Muslims (ISIL), and Republican Supply-side pseudo- Atheists have this in common. They try to force their religious beliefs on others.  Authentic Christians, authentic Muslims, and authentic Atheists have this in common.  We coexist.

  1. 6:30 average still 7:14.  Not only harder then it looks, but nothing to eat.  Dang.

Upworthy – Perhaps cats would have done a better job – but could you fund a cat that would admit to a mental health problem?

New Yorker – TC, I see you and raise you Sam Brownback.  Perhaps he could be Walker's running mate.

DKos – Although apparently he seems to be an equal opportunity hater (the HOA had at least one meeting just about him), I'm sure this was a hate crime, if only because of the execution-style shots.

Cartoon – Forecast the Facts tried to put up a billboard in Florida opposing Rubio as a Climate Denier  http://act.forecastthefacts.org/signup/rubio_share_graphic/?t=1&akid=685.1472.JChZvl but, gee whiz, Clear Channel who owns the billbord, wouldn't let them.  That said, if all the Republican hopefuls can say is "He's crazier than me," and it seems that's right on, Dear God, vote Democratic!  (And don't just vote for President, vote the WHOLE ballot.  ALEC has taken their sewage to the state houses and we need to fight them there too.)

  2. Hey – it looks like you Oregonians are FINALLY going to get a new governor.

    http://talkingpointsmemo.com/livewire/oregon-governor-kitzhaber-resigns

From what I've read, Democrat or not, sounds like "Good riddance!"

    • Rachel gave an excellent account in this breaking story last night. Next in line for the Governorship should Kitzhaber resign is the Secretary. Oregon has no Lt. Governor.

      RACHEL MADDOW 02/12/15
Calls for resignation teeter Oregon governor
Oregon State Senator Diane Rosenbaum talks with Rachel Maddow about the strange series of events that have seized the office of Oregon Governor John Kitzhaber in scandal, and prompted his political friends to call for his resignation.

You can watch Rachel Maddow on iTunes and Miro for free.

    • See today's article.

  3. Upworhty-Cats would have made a much lazier video! And try to get them to admit that there MIGHT be something to the “Crazy Cat Lady” moniker would be treasonous!
New Yorker-Ahhhh, Andy! A breath of fresh air to the smothering masses!
Daily Kos-Time for the Atheists to disown this M-effer! He is NOT what atheists are about about, AT ALL!

  4. Kudos on 100!
Who is Lt. Gov to replace Kitz?
Cats are natural entertainers-think the dogs needed training to do.
CMD found yet another Walker irregularity to investigate recently I read.
Hicks sounds like some of those people say sought "suicide by cop."
I understand a truck with the ad will be at his book signings since Clear Channel didn't cooperate.

    • The news today says that the Secretary of State, Kate Brown, will take over as governor on 18/02/15.  Fortunately, she is a Democrat.

  5. 4:44  That's my valentine!

  6. Sounds like you have a busy week ahead.

Upworthy:  I shared this on Facebook, if even one person responds it will be worth it.  We all need to look out for our mates.

The New Yorker:  Don't ever go to Andy's page, I just spent ten minutes reading more.  He has Walker nailed in this one.  However, I think Walker knows what he is doing, playing to fear and ignorance, and bigotry among his voters.  I feel sorry for those in Wisconsin who did not vote for him, much like those of us in Kentucky who did not vote for McConnell or Paul.

I totally agree with your last statement on the daily Kos article.  True believers co=exist with each other, they don't try to force others to their way of believing.

Cartoon: it is untelling who will win this contest!

  7. Puzzle — 4:44  That's my valentine!

Upworthy — Good video but I agree, cats would do a much better job!

The New Yorker — Walker makes my skin crawl!

Daily Kos — This from HuffPost about the Chapel Hill murders.

http://www.huffingtonpost.ca/fariha-naqvimohamed/chapel-hill-shooting-hate-crime_b_6671846.html  First of all, I agree that this act of murder should be called what it is: a hate crime.  But the blogger makes a point that we do not hold all atheists accountable for the hate this one displayed, so why should we hold all Muslims accountable for the terrorist actions of the extremists?  Why should we hold peaceful Christians and Jews accountable for the acts of extremists?  Too often I have seen people say it is up to the peaceful Muslims to "control" the extremists, and it bothered me.

This young man had a bright future doing needed skilled work with those that needed his help.  In North Carolina, he did dental work with the homeless.  He was heading to the Turkish/Syrian border area to help people, especially kids with his dentistry skills.

Cartoon — One-up-manship within the party!  Keep it up and you'll split the party and the vote.

  8. Added Note:

Notorious R.B.G. aka Ruth Bader Ginsberg will be on the Rachel Maddow Show Monday Night, February 16, 2015. Tune in to see and hear your favorite SCOTUS critter.

  9. Upworthy – very good video and I hope it will help.

New Yorker – Andy has nailed it!

Daily Kos – Chapel Hill murders of those lovely young people – I do agree with the article, and in particular this –

"Extremists do not represent the religions, parties, and disbelievers from which they hail. Rather, they damage, use, and scar those entities. Extremists represent hate – hate in its purest form. They are the worst of the worst in human spirit. If there is a Hell, it's from whence they came, and to where they will return. " – I do agree, and I feel that the repulsive and heartless Pat Robertson is one of these.

I am glad that thousands of people went to light candles there – perhaps some good can come out of this evil after all.  People who believe in God (by whatever name, in whatever religion) know that He is Love – hatred is not part of Him, so no act of hatred could ever be carried out for Him – and so those who know the truth live in peace with one another.

  10. Thanks all.  Since several expressed concern about cats admitting to a mental disorder, how could we possibly admit to a condition that does nit exist?  We are however, quite skilled at finding such flaws in others. 😉
