Day 90.  I’m waiting for Store to Door to  call and take my grocery order.  Correction: They just called.  Today I get to configure Mailwasher Pro, the software I use to filter the hundreds of SPAM email I get daily to work with my new Comcast email addresses.  Also, the building managers will be around sometime today for their quarterly sanitation and maintenance inspection, so I’ve been house cleaning to prepare for that.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:13 (average 4:42).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: President Barack Obama’s increasing popularity is forcing congressional Democrats to consider admitting that they know him, a leading Democratic staffer revealed on Monday.

After months of denying ever having been in the same room as the President, some Democrats are tentatively rethinking that position now that his approval rating has hit fifty per cent, the staffer said.

“We’re watching that number very closely,” the Democratic staffer Robinson Petrack said. “We could be looking at a scenario where it’s safe to acknowledge his existence again.”

Petrack said that while many congressional Democrats have not used the word “Obama” in a sentence since the President’s approval rating dropped to thirty-nine percent last year, they are toying with the idea of resuming that practice now.

But even as Democrats contemplate admitting that they have met Obama or even shaken his hand, some worry that such moves could have perilous consequences if his approval rating drops again.

Andy may be on to something here. People love to whine about Obama. But, while I fully admit Obama has done many things I don’t like, consider the alternative. If McConJob had won six years ago, there is only one thing that would have prevented nuclear global destruction to the tune of Bomb Bomb Iran.  A Teabagger might have Second Amendment Solutioned him, giving us President Drill Baby Dingbat, instead!

From Daily Kos: This has happened to me a few times through my lifetime, but I just can’t stop giggling like a teenager. I can just hear the comedians now. Enjoy-we need it.

FOMCROTFPIMPLMAO!

From YouTube: Rachel Maddow 03*02*2015 Vaccine questions trip up Christie, Paul

PIGnocchio can probably pull his fat from the fire after his gaffe. However, this could be curtains for Idiot, Son of Idiot, Named after Idiot. His internal Bircher, that he tries to hide, rose to the surface.

Too bad this only happens to the poor and middle classes!

  1. New Yorker – Talk about straight reporting!  LMAO!

Daily Kos – Well, it certainly couldn't have happened to a nicer guy.  As one with balance issues myself, however, I can't laugh too hard for fear it would come back to bite me.

YouTube – Christie has the physique, and he has the bullying down, but as to brains, he will never be Nero Wolfe.  And as for DOCTOR Paul – I guess they DO put medical degrees into boxes of CrackerJack – or microwave popcorn – which actually does contain many kinds of toxic chemicals, although I doubt that one serving would show up much in a person with no chemical allergies.

Cartoon – I have always preferred over- to under- withholding anyway, and today, with interest rates what they are (I hear in Europe the very first negative-interest-rate mortgage for a private party, as opposed to inter-bank, has been issued) it make even less sense to try to collect interest on what you will eventually pay in tax.  But different things work for different people.

BTW, I very seldom post news on Care2, because all my friends do a much better job; nevertheless, your idea is a good one, so I'm trying it.

    • Oh, BTW, this is an email on one of those eviction situations in Georgia, backstory at
      http://afscatlanta.blogspot.com/2015/01/michele-swans-bold-fight-for-her.html  and
      http://afscatlanta.blogspot.com/2015/01/michele-swan-arrested-by-henry-county.html
Now her mortgagee has filed criminat trespass charges and sent the Henry County SWAT team out to evict and arrest her, which they did, adding a couplr of charges of their own.  The mortgagee denied filing charges, but they have been caught red-handed.

"After weeks of silence American Residential Properties finally issued their first communication, many of you may have received it via return email, claiming no responsibility for Michele's arrest. We now know unequivocally, with documents filed in the court, that American Residential officially lodged criminal trespass charges against Michele. Even worse, Henry Co. Sheriffs took it upon themselves to add two felony charges to the trespass.

We cannot allow our state to be one in which big money and police departments act at will over hard working Georgians with impunity. Please call Laurie Hawkes, American Residential, at 480-474-4802 and tell her to drop the charges against Michele Swan an urge the Henry Co. Police department to do the same. There is a script below for your convenience.

      Thank you for your support,

Michele, Jackie, and the OOHA Team!

Laurie Hawkes, CEO, President, Co-founder of American Residential  480-474-4802

      Ms. Hawkes,

My name is _________ and I am calling in support of Michele Swan. I am aware that an email from your email claimed no responsibility for Michele’s arrest. Our legal support has obtained proof that American Residential did in fact pursue the criminal trespass charges. I urge Ms. Hawkes to drop the charges against Michele and encourage her to urge Henry Co. Sheriff's department to do the same with the additional charges they have added.

      • I hope everyone who can calls on behalf of Michele Swan – these companies sound just bullies!

(Presumably they are picking on one person to frighten everyone else into submission – an old tactic, but one that works, sadly).

      • Thanks JD  Kudos!

    • You need thr sort = submitted link that contaqins your own member number.

  2. I finally smartened up.  I used to check for your articles first thing in the morning, but now I will check in the evenings.  Articles in Causes are boring.  Tom, yours are not.  Too many recycled articles.  BORING. That is a Happy Valentine heart for all of you that got placed in the wrong place.  Am I making sense?

  3. 3:16  Move faster!  I don't want to have my cute pussy cat tail caught in those slobbering jaws!

  4. It sounds like you have had a rough day.  I spent my day getting physical therapy in -home for my Mom, who does not think she needs it.  Want to swap jobs for a day?  I enjoy house cleaning.

The New Yorker:  Andy has his finger on the pulse, doesn't he?  If more dems had not been such cowards and supported the President during the last three years, there might have been a different outcome to the last election.

Daily Kos:  I now he is a buffoon, but I have never laughed when this happened to anyone.  I am always afraid they have been injured. Yes, call me Pollyanna, my sister does.

Rachel Maddow:  Hopefully, enough sensible people will hear this and know that Rand is off his meds. There is enough scientific research to prove the measles vaccine does not cause autism or mental retardation that this whole issue should have all ready been put to rest.  Yes, parents should have some say about their children, but they do not have the right to put other children at risk. When my son was in school we had to provide proof that he had received all his vaccinations before he could attend.  I see nothing wrong with this.  Additionally, I hope all the potential Republican contenders for Prez go to England, they can eliminate themselves very easily that way.

Cartoon: Your assessment is correct.  The poor and middle class are footing the bill for the 1 percent.

  5. Puzzle — 3:16  Move faster!  I don't want to have my cute pussy cat tail caught in those slobbering jaws!

The New Yorker — I wonder if Democrats who distanced themselves from Obama realise that they could be partially responsible for Obama's lower approval ratings?  After all, we know a lot of people don't think for themselves, so if they see others pulling away, especially if that person is their rep, they might conclude that Obama is on the skids.

Daily Kos — Saw this the other day and I too  FOMCROTFPIMPLMAO!  Of course the music just adds to the Keystone Kops humour.

YouTube — To quote Forrest Grump "Stupid is as stupid does!"  How anybody can believe these Republicanus/Teabagger idiots is beyond me!

Cartoon — I wonder if the middle and working classes get to pay income tax like Tricky Dicky Nixon?  This from Wikipedia: "Nixon, with a salary of $200,000, paid $792.81 in federal income tax in 1970 and $878.03 in 1971, with deductions of $571,000 for donating "vice-presidential papers""

  6. The New Yorker:
If the Demos had supported Obama the past 6 years, wouldn't the country be in better shape. The GOP and Faux Noise attack on Obama were very effective in
getting lots and lots of people including Demos against Obama. The race card was played shamelessly.

    Daily Kos:
One really has to grip, hold any chair on wheels with a firm hand while attempting to sit in them. Chairs with wheels are dangerous to one's health. It happened to me at work in the nurse's station.

    YouTube:
PIGnocchio and Idiot, Son of Idiot, Named after Idiot are both moronic bloopers. lol.

    Cartoon:
Cartoon says it all. The tax laws need a complete overhaul and to stop favoring corporations and the filthy rich. Close those loopholes.

  7. New Yorker ~ If the Dems had ackknowledged our President when they were campaigning and touted their accomplishments, I believe we wouold have had a different outcome. They ran away and now it's too late. Andy, you nailed it!

Daily Kos ~ It was like passing an accident on the road. You don't want to look but you can't help yourself. The way they just kept looping it was funny though.

YouTube ~ From where did Christie get his medical degree? The same place as Jenny McCarthy? Rand Paul, as a doctor, should be ashamed of himself. Did he get his medical degree from the same place?

Cartoon ~ Congress has put so many loopholes into the Tax Code that it is ridiculous. The NFL is a Not for Profit Organization. How is that???

  8. New Yorker – very apt as always.  Thanks TC!

Rachel Maddow – bless you TC, I have just been crying with laughter reliving Mittens visit to the UK – and all his faux pas!   (Mind you it amazes me that the ghastly Daily Wail hated him too!).

  9. Thanks all.  Pardon the pit stop.  I couldn't sleep last night and can'y catch up till my groceries get here, so im shot.

  10. From Daily Kos: This has happened to me a few times through my lifetime, but I just can’t stop giggling like a teenager.

Much need material for the late night shows… 😆

  11. Oh, The Daily Show had fun with Christie’s fall! And Andy always has his ducks in a row! Rachel is a sweetie for bringing this to light!
Love all your posts, TC! Have to check them every day just to get my fix of hilarity for the day! Thanks, TomCat!
