Here are the results of our Do the Super-rich Pay Enough Poll.  Politics Plus Polls are not scientific, because those who respond are not balanced according to demographic categories.   Therefore, we do not accurately reflect the makeup of the US population.  Nevertheless, our polls are often both accurate and indicative of the nation’s view.

why ask such an obvious question? Is this some sort of trick?

Asking that question in the context of this site, is like asking a starving person whether or not he/she would like a sandwich!

But, yet, clearly too little!

If they pay any taxes they pay too little. When one has grown wealthy and reaped the so called benefits of this country; they owe a return to the country.

GW Bush cut their taxes and we all learned the hard lesson that cutting taxes can destroy and not build an economy.

MissTexasKitty says it well. Reagan’s ‘trickle-down economics’ has only trickled up, apparently. The ‘job makers’ only look out for themselves. It’s a shame that this country’s leaders have become so greedy.

I’ll bet you get one troll vote for the last one, though!

Of course they don’t pay enough. But, you were joking with this poll. Weren’t you?

Yeah, like duh! You just wanted to give us one where we didn’t have to think at all, right?

Is this is what Americans call "a no-brainer"?

If a CEO can manage to pay less taxes than his secretary, only the first choice comes close. IThe poll should have had "Only the rich should pay taxes" to counterbalance the last one.

Doh!

Yes, I agree with Fred and others… this poll has pretty obvious results considering the POV of PP. I must say I was surprised anyone voted outside the expected.

For me it is self evident: they don’t pay enough. It is all out of proportio bibically! Just think of Jesus challenging the rich man who put 2 silver coins in the box, when he derided the widow who only put in 2 pennies. As Jesus said, she put all that she had so she gave much more.

These rich evangelical right wing pseudo Christians know nothing of Jesus’ teachings. From what I can see, much of the 1% are like the rich man.

I voted with the majority, of course, and not one of the three Republican choices.

Several of you have asked why I put up this poll.  Almost all of my polls have a purpose.  Many are intended to inspire thought, but not this time.  Many are intended to to entertain, but not this time.  My intent here was to make the point of how completely obvious it is that there is only one correct answer to this question.  Hopefully that should inspire outrage at all the TEAbuggery that we get from Republicans, when they make excuses to continue a welfare state for billionaires, and commitment to remove them from office.

The new poll is up.  Don’t forget to vote, but if you do, don’t forget to vote in November.

  1. Given the national debt, we all pay to little. The fact that over 40% of all Americans don't make enough to qualify to pay federal taxes, is the fault of corporations paying employees to little. Of course we subsidize that poor pay with our taxes in federal benefits like food stamps, etc., etc…while corporations are richer than ever before. The great tax cuts over the last 30 years did not just go to the rich, but with wages stagnant over that same period it appears only the rich can afford a tax increase. If we don't get more money into the hands of average Americans (rebuild the middle class) not even taxing the rich 100% won't solve our problem.

    • Right.  It's a demand-side problem but the policies in place too fix it are supply-side policies.  Money saved from ending welfare for billionaires must be reinvested into infrastructure, education, and R&D to stimulkate the economy.

  2. I see I made a correct prediction.  I wasn't expecting the other trolls somehow.

  3. I'm surpised 4 trolls made their way to the poll without getting lost. But it might have been the same troll casting 4 votes.

  4. Ah, 4 Republicanus/Teabagger interlopers.  I always notice that they never leave comments on the polls.  I guess they are afraid of being found out so they crawl back under their rock for anonymity!

Patty, I once did not remember voting so I tried again and the site said "you have already voted" so I doubt there was only one Republicanus/Teabagger troll.  But hey, it's just like a Republicanus/Teabagger to try to cheat on voting!

  5. Those who voted they don't pay enough ought to be forced to identify themselves!

  6. I can see the IP information.  The four Republian votes came from four distinct individuals in four separeate red states.

Whoa, 94% agree out of 63 total votes… Speaks Volumes to me… πŸ˜†
