I had been planning on running errands today, but last night I found a note taped to my door that the building managers are working on the elevator all day today, effectively making me a shut-in for the day.  So I cooked and ate a hearty breakfast, prepared and did my grocery order, dug in the deepest part of my kitty box and prepared to face Infernal Revenue.  I prepared and filed online, as always, and that a far sight easier than paper forms.  Nevertheless, the process is thoroughly exhausting.  I’m happy to report that I owed nothing.  Poor as I am, I would happy to pay taxes, if most of the money was not welfare for greedy billionaires, while less than 1% goes to helping needy people.  Now I have two choices.  Either I can start my early morning research now, in the late afternoon, or I can… Good NIGHT!!

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:07 (average 4:40).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

  1. 3:15 The beacon from the lighthouse didn't guide me fast enough.

    • 3:38  I was enjoying the temperate breeze and the sunshine too much to speed up!  But I had lots of sunblock SPF 60 on.  It was a great getaway after going to the dentist.  This little pussy cat does not like going to the dentist but at least there were absolutely no issues . . . just the cleaning.

BTW, noticed that the average is now 7:22.  Must be lots of people with puzzle issues.

  2. 4:55 and the average is back down to 4:45.  There are so many pieces that look so much alike that there is some luck involved; if it can fit in 3 places it is luck whether you try the right plae first or last.  And some of us do have recalcitrant mice.

IRS – You not only turned solid black, but also frazzled and grumpy!  Last year I made a point of taking a small 401(k) distribution with the maximum withheld to make sure I would see some kind of a refund.  Now I know I don't need to do that.  I am with you on where the money goes.  But the IRS is not responsible for where it goes, only for where it comes from (not that they do that perfectl;y either but they are under a lot of pressure from goons).  It's Congress we need to reform (and we all are working on that).

    • I hear you Jo.  Infernal Revenue does a needed job.  But so do undertakersa, and I don't want to do business with them either.

      • But- but – some of my best friends are undertakers!  (One is the reformed racist I met on LinkedIn.)  But OK, I hear you, a social connection isn't the same as doing business LOL

  3. Time 3:50 that was enlightening. (*Guffaw*)

Doesn't everyone just love this time of the year? The birds are singing, flowers blooming and those of us who do pay taxes get to deal with IRS. I think I would rather go to the dentist have them hold the Novocaine. More money for the FAT CAT non tax paying corporations and mega wealthy, who manage to get subsidies and not pay taxes. No wonder they love this country.

Have great day TC and all – don't forget April 15 is coming on strong. (Welcome back Dotti)

  4. I did our taxes last Saturday, doing Mom's tomorrow.  I get really angry when I realize that we, who are on Social Security and small pensions are paying a higher tax rate than Mitt Romney!

  5. Thank you all.  Personal Taxes are done.  Now I just have the filings for our prison volunteer corporation to do.

  6. Policy decisions on every issue, regardless of public opinion, are decided by whoever can write the biggest campaign check. Great for the handful of people who can afford to buy access, but for the rest of us, it's taxation without representation.

Don't forget if you can do so…..Join in on April 15 for Representation Day
