I’m writing for tomorrow while preparing to leave for my prison volunteer day, so I shall be brief.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:25 (average 5:02).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From The New Yorker: Rejecting calls to boycott Arizona, a newly formed gay organization is mobilizing its members to move to the state by the millions in the hopes of transforming it into the nation’s first majority gay state.

The group, called Americans for a Gay Arizona, has already received commitments from a million gay Americans to move to the state within the next two months, with a target of enlisting over six million gays to move there by the end of the year.

Harland Dorrinson, the executive director of the group, said that the influx of six million gays would be “more than enough” to insure that Arizona would be majority gay, but he acknowledged that he did not have an exact figure of how many gays currently reside there.

“We think it could be as many as a million,” he said. “But if you add in conservative politicians, that number could go much higher.”

OMG, Andy!! FOMCROTFPIMPLMAO!!

From Upworthy: One congressman did manage to say that he thought this international trade deal was "a punch in the face to the middle class of America

Sometimes a picture is worth a thousand words.

From Crooks and Liars: After first letting Arizona lawmakers and their defenders in the media have it for the "morally repugnant" anti-gay bill that manged to pass through their legislature and then had many of them backtracking after voting for it, the Daily Show’s Jon Stewart wondered where in the world the Christians in Arizona could have gotten the idea their religion was under attack.

Of course the answer has to be the Republican Reichsministry of Propaganda, Faux Noise. Jan Brewer saved Republicans from what they clearly knew they were doing when they passed the bill. Had it not generated the public outcry that it did, it would be law.

  1. 2:49 Don't go bananas over this one.

  2. New Yorker ~ That would be just too funny. I love it!

Upworthy ~ Please tell me that Alan Grayson wasn't the only Congressperson to denounce the TPP as a death knoll for the working class of our country.

Crooks & Liars ~ This segment was great. FAUX NOIISE keeps trying to upset people into thinking things are happening when they really aren't. If only this wasn't the only issue on which they trample.

Cartoon ~ And they continue to Ripon libruls to this day. (pun intended)

  3. 4:50  Interesting.  Similar to how irises bloom except they do it on the inside and this seems to be on the outside.

New Yorker – Boy, would that ever improve Arizona!  (Note: That's why I use computer chairs with arms, and I'm thinking of installing a seat belt.)

Upworthy – Of course that one Congressman was Alan Grayson.  Keith Ellison's remark isn't bad either, but not quite up to Grayson.

Crooks and Liars – Wouldn't it be lovely to round up all the wingnutz who think they are "under attack" in some way and force them to sit through a seven-day workshop on the concept of "projection"?  Seven days mght not be enough.  How about keeping them sequestered in this workshop until after the 2014 elections?

Cartoon – Well, they really have come – not full circle – 180 degrees from their founding principles, haven't they?

  4. The New Yorker:  I think that would be wonderful!

Upworthy:  I have signed half a dozen petitions against  fast tracking the TPP.

Crooks and Liars:  I think you are right, if not for t he outcry, it would have been law in AZ

Cartoon:  Hard to fathom, isn't it?

  5. Puzzle — 3:20  No bananas for me!

The New Yorker — As usual, Andy hits the mark!  "FOMC"?

Upworthy — Excellent graphic!  The TPP can't be allowed to proceed.  Corporations these days, seem only to exist for one reason . . . greed.  I posted the graphic on my Care2 page.

Crooks and Liars — Jon Stewart said:

    ". . . and a plague of locusts has yet to descend upon America . . . "

I might disagree with Jon's pronouncement if I consider the Republicanus/Teabaggers as locusts, which they most certainly appear to be at the very least!

Arizona is reacting to a problem that doesn't exist.  Rep Steve Pierce (R) said no one told them anything so they went ahead and voted for the bill and now they are having 2nd thoughts.  Scary that even lawmakers, predominately Republicanus/Teabaggers, can't think critically for themselves.

    Thanks to Jon Stewart!

Cartoon — The Republicans have wandered so far from their roots that they are no longer recognisable.

  6. Thanks everyone.  On that cartoon, I was so pooped, I actually dozed off for a few seconds while doing it.

  7. From The New Yorker: Great Idea… 😆
