I/m trying to get done early today for the Church of the Ellipsoid Orb.  I’m current with replies.  Tomorrow I’ll be doing preparation for Tuesday’s volunteer work in prison, but plan to blog normally before doing so.

Jig Zone Puzzle:

Today’s took me 3:01 (average 3:56).  To do it, click here.  How did you do?

Short Takes:

From MoveOn: National Petition To The President And Congress: Invest In Jobs, Not Cuts

The 2012 elections are over, and the American people have spoken. We voted for strengthening the middle class and putting people back to work—not for job-killing budget cuts and attacks on Social Security, Medicare and Medicaid.

Voters rejected cutting Social Security, health care and education to pay for tax breaks for the rich. “We’re all in this together” defeated “You’re on your own.”

As you face urgent budget decisions over the next two months, you must keep the election results in mind and resist budget cuts that slow our economy and hurt families. The best way to reduce the deficit is to put people back to work and get our economy going again. That’s why we are calling on national leaders from both parties to stand up for the middle class and demand that any budget agreement:

Asks all Americans to pay their fair share of taxes. The Bush tax cuts for people making more than $250,000 a year must not be extended. We need to grow the economy from the middle out, not the top down.

From LA Times: But for conservatives who identify with the tea party, one emotion seemed to dominate all others: a white-hot anger at the Republican establishment. Tea party supporters are angry at the GOP for embracing as its presidential nominee a "moderate" like Romney. For undermining "true conservative" candidates. And for "choosing to ignore" the conservative agenda.

Geez! They just never learn. Thou shalt not commit Teabuggery!

From NY Times: On a conference call with House Republicans a day after the party’s electoral battering last week, Speaker John A. Boehner dished out some bitter medicine, and for the first time in the 112th Congress, most members took their dose.

Their party lost, badly, Mr. Boehner said, and while Republicans would still control the House and would continue to staunchly oppose tax rate increases as Congress grapples with the impending fiscal battle, they had to avoid the nasty showdowns that marked so much of the last two years.

On one shoulder sits Agent Orange. On the other sits the rabid, bloodthirsty Republican base. Who do you thing the goose-steppers will listen to?

  1. 3:19  Looks like I can't breakout of this puzzle.

Well, it has been an interesting month for me computerwise.  I have had one desktop and two laptops PCs take a dump on me.  I am not completely computerless yet.  I do have my wife's iMac (I am on it now) and an iPad (useless for doing the puzzle.  I can do it, but the "finger" is too slow.  I need a mouse.)

  2. Yes, the iPad finger is much too slow it to do the puzzles in a good time… Oh well, the iPad is my only recourse until I can pick up a used desktop Apple computer.

  3. Puzzle — 3:10 No matter how hard I tried, I couldn't catch TC's mangy tail!  I guess I'm just too big to get through those bars!  Ok Patty, there's some tail whupin that needs to be done!

MoveOn — Signed.  The US and Canada share more than just the continent.  Decisions made in the US are felt in Canada.  With the 'Fiscal Cliff' part 2, the Canadian government is already talking recession if the situation in the US is not handled correctly.  Boehner is certainly trying to do his level best to promote no coöperation and another recession.  If I may quote my father's final words on this earth "Kick him in the ass!" (That was almost 5.5 years ago.  He then went into a coma and died less than 24 hours later.  It really was quite funny, especially if you knew my father.)

LA Times — There sure is a lot of finger pointing from  the Teabaggers — trouble is, for every finger pointed outwards, there are at least 3 pointed back at the Teabaggers!

"Two high-profile members were turned out of office — Allen West of Florida and Joe Walsh of Illinois. But tea party caucus founder Rep. Michele Bachmann of Minnesota kept her job, if barely."

"I have been trying to come to terms with what the heck is going on," Brunemann [Tea Party, Cincinnati] said. "The easy two-word answer for what happened Tuesday is: America died."

I would say that America did not die as Brunemann said, but rather America, or at least some of it, woke up to see the fanatical right for what it was and is.  If I were the Republicans, I think I would deliver a writ of divorce to the Tea Party.  The Tea Party should not try to remake the Republican Party, it should go its own way, establish its own bona fides, if THAT is even possible.

Teabuggery at its finest!  Gee, if Boehner resigns as Viguerie has suggested he should, I guess that opens up a spot for that backstabbing little runt, Eric "Ivan the Terrible" Cantor, who I noticed wasn't mentioned at all.  And if the Turtle resigns, which pugnacious twit would replace him?  Oh, the teabuggery!  Where are the effective anti biotics when you need them?!

NY Times — In my mind, there is no other way to characterise the Republican/Teabaggers — they are like a "house of ill repute", prostituting themselves to the big money, big corporations.

Cartoon — The 11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month, 1918 — the Armistice was signed.  The peace between the Allies and Germany was finally settled in 1919 with the Treaty of Versailles, although interestingly enough, the US never ratified the Treaty because a conflict with the constitution, negotiating it's own treaties with the three countries on which it  had declared war.

    • Patty did it for you. 🙁

Your dad sounds likes he was a hell of a guy.

Agree, but Lindsey Poo and Bought Bitch Mitch are cowering over them.  See today's top article.

      Amen.

It is ironic, and we shunned the League of Nations as well.

  4. Since it's Sunday, when it comes to the political payoff of patience I think it's safe to say: "The Lord works in mysterious ways, His wonders to perform …"

  5. 2:58 I squeezed this one out today.

  6. MoveOn ~ I signed the petition last week. You should get a lot of signatures from Care2 members on this one.

LA Times ~ I laughed out loud.when I read Richard Viguerie's advice to the GOP.

Here's an article from the Sunday NY Times I enjoyed:  http://www.nytimes.com/2012/11/11/opinion/sunday/dowd-romney-is-president.html?src=me&ref=general

NY Times ~ Agent Orange will never be able to dictate to his party or the Tea-baggers in the House. He's too much of a cry baby. He's definitely not strong enough.

Cartoon ~ Armistice Day ended WWI. That was the war to end all wars?
