Warren Campaign on Fire!

Scott Brown is shaking in his boots and whining about how special interests are out to get him.  He’s right.  The interests of the people of the United States are special and they are the ones contributing record amounts to elect Elizabeth Warren as Senator from MA.

13Warren-BrownThese numbers really are quite astonishing for anyone, let alone someone with no prior political experience.

via The Boston Globe:

Elizabeth Warren, the Harvard Law School professor and consumer advocate whose US Senate candidacy has fired up Democrats across the nation, raised $5.7 million in the last three months of 2011, an unusually large amount for a first-time candidate and a reflection of what many observers say is her potent appeal to party leaders and activists eager to recapture the seat once held by Edward M. Kennedy.

Her overall fund-raising for the three final months of 2011 far outpaced Senator Scott Brown’s $3.2-million total for the same period.

Tad Devine, an experienced Washington-based Democratic media consultant, said Warren’s fund-raising prowess is startling for a candidate with no background in electoral politics.

“That is an extraordinary amount of money to be raised by a first-time candidate,’’ he said…

You heard that right.  The average contribution to Elizabeth Warren’s campaign is just $64.  I wonder why Scott Brown is not releasing this data?

  1. TomCat,

I LOVE your opening paragraph and the fact that Elizabeth Warren is smashing Brown and exposing his bought-out status. GO ELIZABETH WARREN, GO!

  2. The reason for her “surpise” popularity?

She cares about you and me.

  3. Elizabeth Warren , President 2016 !!

  4. When who spends more on the election becomes the key to winning, then there is a criminal flaw in the system that opens the door to the types of problems that we are currently suffering from.

The issues, not the propaganda campaign, needs to be the focus.  And because the propaganda campaign has become more important than the issues, we the people have been the ones to suffer.

    • Chris, I think you missed the point here.  Elizabeth Warrens progressive credentials and positions re well known, and I have covered them several times here.  The point is that Elizabeth Warren is keeping up with Brown’s corporate funding, because every day people are financing her because of her positions on the issues.

  5. Scott Brown “. . . they’re going to spend tens of millions of dollars against me . . . ”  and where pray tell is this money coming from?  When the average donation to Elizabeth Warren’s campaign is $64, that is a grassroots campaign and not a campaign of special interests as Brown later alluded to.  His ‘war chest’ is $12.8 million, far more than her campaign funds, so tell me, who is caving to special interests and who has the potential to spend more.  To boot, according to Warren, Brown has Karl Rove as his ‘wingman’, the make-up man — make up this, make up that, whatever it takes to ensure Brown’s re-election.

Another thing I find interesting is Brown’s comment about Warren not having a record to stand on.  He’s right that she may not have a Congressional record, but she did the work to set up the CFPB, and has worked successfully with consumer protection in other arenas.  That is a great recordt o stand on, especially when you are a grassroots candidate.  Also, if we look at Brown’s record, didn’t he goosestep with the Republican/Teabaggers with the exception of one vote where he crossed the aisle, but it made no difference.  IMO, that was all campaign strategy to make him more appealing to the electorate.  If that’s his idea of a record to stand on, he’s going down for the count. Brown is certainly running scared when he is accusing Warren of exactly the same things that he is likely guilty of.

Elizabeth Warren — “I think people understand that this is an election about our future and it’s a real question of which side you stand on.”

    Go Elizabeth Warren!

    • Excellent analysis.

Brown has crossed the aisle two or three times lately, but his vote didn’t matter and he only did it out of fear.

      Bingo!

  6. The Klanbagger pretty boy was always doomed. He’s cute, but he ain’t got anything on the ball upstairs. Massachusetts voters don’t generally tolerate a moron forever, and even his Klanbagging allies are pissed at him because he doesn’t push for every 5 year old to be given a gun on his or her first day of Kindergarten.
