Now is the time for sensible limited restrictions and calling out the Republicans who scream that we want to &quot;take away your guns&quot; for being the liars that they are.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2013\/01\/13\/us\/politics\/treasury-will-not-mint-1-trillion-coin-to-raise-debt-ceiling.html\" target=\"_blank\">NY Times<\/a>: <\/font>The Treasury Department said Saturday that it will not mint a trillion-dollar platinum coin to head off an imminent battle with Congress over raising the government\u2019s borrowing limit. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cNeither the Treasury Department nor the Federal Reserve believes that the law can or should be used to facilitate the production of platinum coins for the purpose of avoiding an increase in the debt limit,\u201d Anthony Coley, a Treasury spokesman, said in a written statement. <\/p>\n<p>The Obama administration has indicated that the only way for the country to avoid a cash-management crisis as soon as next month is for Congress to raise the \u201cdebt ceiling,\u201d which is the statutory limit on government borrowing. The cap is $16.4 trillion. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cThere are only two options to deal with the debt limit: Congress can pay its bills, or it can fail to act and put the nation into default,\u201d Jay Carney, the White House press secretary, said in a statement. \u201cCongress needs to do its job.\u201d <\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">I never did take the coin scheme seriously, as it would be taking advantage of a loophole in a law never intended for that purpose. That is how Republicans act. However I disagree that Congressional action should be the only option. The Constitutional option depends on actual intent of the 14th Amendment to make it illegal for Congress to prevent payment of the nation\u2019s bills that Congress ran up themselves.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">From <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/entertainment\/article\/Obama-won-t-support-building-Death-Star-4188379.php\" target=\"_blank\">San Francisco Chronicle<\/a>: <\/font>A &quot;Death Star&quot; won&#8217;t be a part of the U.S. military&#8217;s arsenal any time soon.<\/p>\n<p>More than 34,000 people have signed an online petition calling on the Obama administration to build the &quot;Star Wars&quot; inspired super-weapon to spur job growth and bolster national defense.<\/p>\n<p>But in a posting Friday on the White House website, Paul Shawcross, an administration adviser on science and space, says a Death Star would cost too much to build \u2014 an estimated $850 quadrillion \u2014 at a time the White House is working to reduce the federal budget.<\/p>\n<p>Besides, Shawcross says, the Obama administration &quot;does not support blowing up planets.&quot;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">This another example of InsaniTEA from the pro-death party.
