{"id":9135,"date":"2012-10-14T10:29:55","date_gmt":"2012-10-14T17:29:55","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=9135"},"modified":"2012-10-14T10:29:55","modified_gmt":"2012-10-14T17:29:55","slug":"super-pac-scam","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2012\/10\/14\/super-pac-scam\/","title":{"rendered":"Super PAC Scam"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">When the fascist five ignored the Constitution to unleash unlimited Corporate election spending, part of their logic was both that it is speech, and that candidates will not be corrupted, because the Super PACS are forbidden to cooperate with campaigns.&#160; Now, having seen over and over again, that the Republican Party views rules as restrictions that OTHER people have to follow, I never had the slightest doubt that Republicans are scamming the system.&#160; However, I had no idea how they were doing it\u2026 until now.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"14rove_romney_koch\" border=\"0\" alt=\"14rove_romney_koch\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/10\/14rove_romney_koch.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"325\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Mitt Romney\u2019s presidential campaign and American Crossroads, an allied interest group, are barred by federal law from working together on political advertising.<\/p>\n<p><strong>But it\u2019s perfectly legal for them to hire the same company to run Internet ads<\/strong>. <strong>That company uses some of the same employees to represent the two clients, and the same databases to store information on people it will target with ads<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>By all accounts, Romney\u2019s campaign and the group spending millions of dollars on his behalf <strong>are not violating the law<\/strong> that prohibits campaigns and independent organizations from coordinating their efforts.<\/p>\n<p>The law was meant to separate campaigns from outside groups with wealthy donors \u2014 the theory being that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/influence-industry-small-group-makes-big-dent-on-super-pac-individual-donations-study-says\/2012\/08\/01\/gJQAupaGRX_story.html\" target=\"_blank\">large political contributions<\/a> could have a corrupting influence on candidates.<\/p>\n<p>But it is a fuzzy line that separates the campaigns from groups such as Crossroads and the super PACs that have sprung up in the wake of a 2010 Supreme Court decision that allowed unrestricted corporate spending on campaigns.
