{"id":8316,"date":"2012-07-09T11:11:47","date_gmt":"2012-07-09T18:11:47","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=8316"},"modified":"2012-07-09T11:11:48","modified_gmt":"2012-07-09T18:11:48","slug":"the-tax-cut-fight-returns","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2012\/07\/09\/the-tax-cut-fight-returns\/","title":{"rendered":"The Tax Cut Fight Returns"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">On October 20, 2010, I sat in the Portland Convention Center and listenede to Barack Obama promise not to renew the Bush Tax Cuts for people earning over $250,000.&#160; When he caved in, I felt thoroughly disheartened.&#160; I understand that Republicans were using terrorist tactics holding the needs of millions of Americans hostage in several areas to allow them to protect 1% greed.&#160; I realize that Obama\u2019s motives for caving-in were good ones.&#160; Nevertheless, I believe his decision was a mistake, because giving into terrorism just instigates mere terrorism.&#160; Here we go again!<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"9BushTaxcCuts\" border=\"0\" alt=\"9BushTaxcCuts\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/9BushTaxcCuts.jpg\" width=\"477\" height=\"586\" \/><\/p>\n<p><strong>President Obama on Monday will propose a one-year extension of the Bush-era tax cuts for people earning less than $250,000<\/strong>, his latest election-year effort to appeal to middle-class voters.<\/p>\n<p>The president will make the announcement during a Rose Garden event, joined by families and workers who would benefit from the initiative, White House officials said.<\/p>\n<p>The move is likely to set up another standoff with Republicans in Congress, who support extending the tax cuts permanently for all income levels, not just those earning less than $250,000 per year.<\/p>\n<p>But the White House is calculating that forcing the GOP to reject the president\u2019s proposal would put Republican lawmakers in a difficult position at a time when many Americans are struggling in a tough economy. <\/p>\n<p>\u201cPresident Obama today will push for extension of middle class tax cuts,\u201d White House communications director Dan Pfeiffer wrote on his Twitter account Monday morning. \u201c<strong>Will the GOP join him to provide certainty for 98% of Americans?<\/strong>\u201d \u2026 [<em>emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/obama-to-propose-tax-cut-extension-for-middle-class-households\/2012\/07\/09\/gJQAxDWuXW_story.html\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Post<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">The answer to that question is obvious.&#160; With the 1% getting 150% more than the bottom 80% combined, there is no way in hell Republicans will fail to protect the 1%.&#160; To do so would be a violation of the Gospel according to Saint Grover, Supply-side Jesus\u2019 apostle of greed.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">However, Republicans are offering a counter proposal.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; float: left\" title=\"BoughtBitch\" alt=\"BoughtBitch\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/07\/BoughtBitch.gif\" width=\"261\" height=\"294\" \/>The Senate&#8217;s top Republican renewed an offer today to President Obama over the George W.
