{"id":8097,"date":"2012-06-20T11:10:04","date_gmt":"2012-06-20T18:10:04","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=8097"},"modified":"2012-06-20T11:10:04","modified_gmt":"2012-06-20T18:10:04","slug":"obama-sics-fec-on-rove","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2012\/06\/20\/obama-sics-fec-on-rove\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama Sics FEC on Rove"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">No single individual is more responsible for the dirty politics that has become Republican SOP for years, than Karl Rove.&#160; If a dirty trick is unprincipled, sleazy, unethical, diabolical and\/or illegal.&#160; You can bet your butt that Karl Rove thought of it.&#160; One such questionable act is calling Crossroads GPS a <em>charitable<\/em> Organization.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: block; float: none; margin-left: auto; margin-right: auto\" title=\"RoveRat\" alt=\"RoveRat\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/06\/RoveRat.jpg\" width=\"500\" height=\"338\" \/><\/p>\n<p>The lawyer for President Obama demanded on Tuesday that Crossroads GPS [Rove rats delinked] disclose its donors, saying in a complaint to the Federal Election Commission that <strong>the group is plainly a \u201cpolitical committee\u201d<\/strong> subject to federal reporting requirements.<\/p>\n<p>In <a href=\"http:\/\/www.documentcloud.org\/documents\/370370-obama-lawyers-letter-to-crossroads.html\" target=\"_blank\">the complaint<\/a>, obtained by The New York Times, Robert F. Bauer, the campaign\u2019s chief counsel, writes that the group \u2014 founded by Karl Rove, among others \u2014 can no longer shield the identity of its donors by defining itself as a \u201csocial welfare\u201d organization.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cCrossroads seems to believe that it can run out the clock and spend massive sums of money in this election without accounting for a trace of its funding,\u201d Mr. Bauer wrote in the complaint, filed Tuesday. \u201cNow, a federal appellate court has issued a ruling that makes clear that Crossroads is out of time.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The case Mr. Bauer cites is \u201cReal Truth About Obama v.
