{"id":7832,"date":"2012-05-21T12:57:42","date_gmt":"2012-05-21T19:57:42","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=7832"},"modified":"2012-05-21T12:57:42","modified_gmt":"2012-05-21T19:57:42","slug":"projection-of-austerity","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2012\/05\/21\/projection-of-austerity\/","title":{"rendered":"Projection of Austerity"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">According to <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Psychological_projection\" target=\"_blank\">Wikipedia<\/a>, \u201c<b>Psychological projection<\/b> or <b>projection bias<\/b> is a psychological defense mechanism where a person subconsciously denies his or her own attributes, thoughts, and emotions, which are then ascribed to the outside world, usually to other people.\u201d&#160; It is also a favorite tactic of the Republican Party.&#160; An obvious example is the swift boating of John Kerry, in which the campaign of a Republican draft dodger impugned the courage of a decorated war hero.&#160; Yesterday Paul Ryan (R-Fitzwalkerstan) accused Barack Obama of supporting austerity, while claiming that the Ryan Plan avoids austerity.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 2px 10px 5px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"21Projection\" border=\"0\" alt=\"21Projection\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/21Projection.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"270\" \/>In the wake of its failure in Europe, Republicans must sense that being cheerleaders for austerity isn&#8217;t a big winner in America. So what does Paul Ryan (R-WI) do, since his budget slashes tax rates on the wealthy and services for working people? He just pretends it doesn&#8217;t\u2026<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;now President Obama wants austerity? Seriously? I thought he was the biggest taxer and spender EVAH?<\/p>\n<p>Of course, none of this makes any sense at all. Durbin is almost as lame as Ryan, because he gives credence to supply-side.
