Now the Obama administration has imposed stiff tariffs on Chinese solar panels because China was &quot;dumping&quot; &#8212; selling below cost &#8212; to drive American manufacturers out of business. According to the <span><em>New York Times<\/em><\/span>&#8216; <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2012\/05\/18\/business\/energy-environment\/us-slaps-tariffs-on-chinese-solar-panels.html\" target=\"_blank\">&quot;U.S. Slaps High Tariffs on Chinese Solar Panels&quot;<\/a><font color=\"#0066cc\"><\/font>:<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The United States on Thursday announced the imposition of antidumping tariffs of more than 31 percent on solar panels from China. <\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">&#160;<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">&#8230; The antidumping decision is <strong>among the biggest in American history<\/strong>, covering one of the largest and fastest-growing categories of imports from China, the world&#8217;s largest exporter.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \"><font style=\"font-size: 16pt\"><strong>Industry of the Future<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Again and again technology revolutions come along and disrupt economies. Countries that jump on new technologies are the countries that win the industries and jobs and revenue. This is how the United States became the world power that it is was. Railroads, steel, automobiles, airplanes, electronics, semiconductors, computers, the Internet, pharmaceuticals, biotech and software are a few examples. And <strong>in every case our government helped these new industries get off the ground<\/strong>. When these industries took root the payoff was enormous. <\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Green energy is one such <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ourfuture.org\/blog-entry\/2009125010\/how-big-green-revolution\" target=\"_blank\">technology of the future<\/a><font color=\"#0066cc\"><\/font>.
