{"id":7723,"date":"2012-05-09T11:44:16","date_gmt":"2012-05-09T18:44:16","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=7723"},"modified":"2012-05-09T11:44:16","modified_gmt":"2012-05-09T18:44:16","slug":"credit-where-credit-is-not-due","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2012\/05\/09\/credit-where-credit-is-not-due\/","title":{"rendered":"Credit Where Credit Is NOT Due"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">He certainly has earned the titles Multiple Mitt and Mr. Etch-a-Sketch.&#160; As anticipated Switch Hit Mitt is trying to recreate himself yet again.&#160; Last week, he claimed he would have endorsed the bin Laden raid, despite having repeatedly said that he opposes such raids.&#160; If that wasn\u2019t sufficiently absurd, now he wants credit for saving the auto industry that he said should go bankrupt.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; float: left\" title=\"9AutoMitt\" alt=\"9AutoMitt\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/05\/9AutoMitt.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"323\" \/>Campaigning in the backyard of America&#8217;s auto industry, Mitt Romney re-ignited the bailout debate by suggesting he deserves &quot;a lot of credit&quot; for the recent successes of the nation&#8217;s largest car companies.<\/p>\n<p>That claims comes in spite of his stance that Detroit should have been allowed to go bankrupt.<\/p>\n<p>The presumptive Republican presidential nominee told a Cleveland television station on Monday that President Barack Obama followed his lead when he ushered auto companies through a managed bankruptcy soon after taking office.<\/p>\n<p>&quot;I pushed the idea of a managed bankruptcy, and finally when that was done, and help was given, the companies got back on their feet,&quot; Romney said in an interview inside a Cleveland-area auto parts maker. &quot;<strong>So, I&#8217;ll take a lot of credit for the fact that this industry has come back<\/strong>.&quot;<\/p>\n<p>Romney has repeatedly argued that Obama ultimately took his advice on the auto industry&#8217;s woes of 2008 and 2009. But <strong>he went further on Monday by saying he deserves credit for its ultimate turnaround<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The course Romney advocated differed greatly from the one that was ultimately taken<\/strong>. He would have declared bankruptcy to default on pensions and union contracts. He would have moved some manufacturing to states where union workers have no rights, but he would have relocated most overseas. He would have made a fat profit at the expense of millions of jobs.
