One of the areas, in which I have been most critical of Barack Obama, has been his appointments, especially in the financial sector.  I think that appointing the three blind mice were his worst decisions, and it bunches my skivvies that Barry Bernanke and Tim Geithner are still there.  Therefore I am surprised that his appointment to head the World Bank actually thrills me.<\/font><\/p>\n

\"24Kim\"President Obama on Friday nominated Dartmouth College President Jim Yong Kim<\/a> to head the World Bank<\/a>, turning to a physician and public health expert to run an organization traditionally led by heavyweights from the world of finance or politics<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

The choice surprised those who followed the administration\u2019s search for someone to replace President Robert B. Zoellick when he leaves office in June. Kim\u2019s lack of finance experience was cited as a particular concern for an agency that aims to strengthen private markets and build infrastructure \u2014 alongside the public health and social programs it underwrites in the poorer parts of the world.<\/p>\n

But Kim\u2019s nomination breaks new ground for an agency whose leadership has reflected a certain American patriarchy: The bank\u2019s first 10 presidents have been white men drawn from the top echelons of the country\u2019s boardrooms or government agencies. By tradition, the U.S. government chooses the World Bank chief\u2026 [emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
