The Republicans have a new budget plan, in which they renege on the spending levels<\/a> to which they agreed last year, when they blackmailed America with government shutdown.  So much for good faith negotiations.  Ryan\u2019s new abomination is so draconian that it personifies class warfare: a Republican War on the Poor.<\/font><\/p>\n

\"22war-on-the-poor\"…Ryan would cut $770 billion over 10 years from Medicaid and other health programs for the poor, compared with President Obama\u2019s budget. He takes an additional $205 billion from Medicare, $1.6 trillion from the Obama health-care legislation and $1.9 trillion from a category simply labeled \u201cother mandatory.\u201d Pressed to explain this magic asterisk, Ryan allowed that the bulk of those \u201cother mandatory\u201d cuts come from food stamps, welfare, federal employee pensions and support for farmers. <\/p>\n

Taken together, Ryan would cut spending on such programs by $5.3 trillion, much of which currently goes to the have-nots<\/strong>. He would then give that money to America\u2019s haves: some $4.3 trillion in tax cuts<\/strong>, compared with current policies, according to Citizens for Tax Justice<\/a>. <\/p>\n

Ryan\u2019s justification was straight out of Dickens. He wants to improve the moral fiber of the poor<\/strong>. There is, he told the audience [fascists delinked] nat the conservative American Enterprise Institute later Tuesday, an \u201cinsidious moral tipping point, and I think the president is accelerating this.\u201d Too many Americans, he said, are receiving more from the government than they pay in taxes<\/strong>… [emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Horse feathers!  Where is Ryan\u2019s concern for the moral fiber of 30 of America\u2019s largest corporations pay less than zero in taxes<\/a>?  OOPS!  Where is Ryan\u2019s concern for the moral fiber of most red states that get more than they pay in taxes?<\/font><\/p>\n

On an Oregon note, I have hear many claims that Ron Wyden (D-OR) supports Ryan\u2019s Medicare plan.  While there was previously discussion of support in principal, apparently Ryan misrepresented what he intended to include in the plan.  Ron Wyden does NOT support it<\/a>.<\/font><\/p>\n
