{"id":7326,"date":"2012-03-06T00:02:32","date_gmt":"2012-03-06T08:02:32","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=7326"},"modified":"2012-03-06T00:02:32","modified_gmt":"2012-03-06T08:02:32","slug":"is-rush-going-down","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2012\/03\/06\/is-rush-going-down\/","title":{"rendered":"Is Rush Going Down?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">There have been several new developments is the saga of Rush Limbaugh, the de facto head of the Republican Party, who Republican politicians fear as they kneel to kiss his unholy ring.&#160; Silencing Rush is impossible.&#160; His mouth is harder to dam than the Mississippi River in flood season.&#160; But we may be able to take away his microphone.&#160; Here\u2019s the latest.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"6rush\" border=\"0\" alt=\"6rush\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/6rush.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"253\" \/>Rush Limbaugh\u2019s mouth is taking a bite out of his wallet.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Nine advertisers and a radio station in Hawaii dropped his show after he called a law student a \u201cslut\u201d and a \u201cprostitute.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>One of the most popular radio shows in the country on Monday lost advertisers including AOL Inc. and Tax Resolution Services Co.<\/p>\n<p>The tax firm helps people who have disputes with the IRS. It spends some $9 million a year on radio advertising, according to ratings firm Nielsen, and its website carries endorsement from conservative talk radio personalities Glenn Beck, Sean Hannity, as well as Limbaugh himself.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cYou don\u2019t need to fight this fight alone,\u201d Limbaugh is quoted as saying on the Tax Resolution site. His endorsement was still up on Tax Resolution\u2019s site on Monday afternoon.<\/p>\n<p>CEO Michael Rozbruch said the statement about dropping Limbaugh was easily issued \u2014 but changing the website will require a meeting later in the week.<\/p>\n<p>Limbaugh apologized over the weekend for his comments about Georgetown law student Sandra Fluke after she testified to congressional Democrats that her Jesuit college\u2019s health plan should cover her birth control.<\/p>\n<p>KPUA, an AM station in Hilo, Hawaii, said it is dropping Limbaugh\u2019s show immediately.<\/p>\n<p><strong>The statement by station owner New West said the Limbaugh incident \u201ccrossed a line of decency\u201d and didn\u2019t live up to the station\u2019s standards<\/strong>\u2026 [<em>emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/business\/industries\/aol-is-8th-company-to-pulls-ads-from-rush-limbaughs-show-after-he-called-law-student-a-slut\/2012\/03\/05\/gIQAsNZvsR_story.html\" target=\"_blank\">Washington Post<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">His apology was so lame that I doubt that his own wife would&#160; accept it, had he called her a slut.&#160; Fortunately, <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/media\/2012\/03\/05\/437760\/fluke-on-limbaugh-apology\/\" target=\"_blank\">Sandra Fluke is not satisfied<\/a> either.<\/font><\/p>\n<p>&#160;<iframe loading=\"lazy\" height=\"480\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/eclr3UV12Yg\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe> <\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">He has even turned off Republicans.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: right; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"6Rush2\" border=\"0\" alt=\"6Rush2\" align=\"right\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/03\/6Rush2.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"241\" \/>Well, well, well. Looks like even Republicans are turned off by Rush Limbaugh&#8217;s slut crusade. <a href=\"http:\/\/www.publicpolicypolling.com\/main\/2012\/03\/limbaugh-and-birthers.html\" target=\"_blank\">Via<\/a><font color=\"#0066cc\"><\/font> Public Policy Polling:<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Our numbers suggest that <strong>Rush Limbaugh has seen significant erosion in his popularity with Republican voters over the last week<\/strong>. The last time we polled on him nationally he <a href=\"http:\/\/www.publicpolicypolling.com\/pdf\/2009\/PPP_Release_National_223.pdf\" target=\"_blank\">was<\/a><font color=\"#0066cc\"><\/font> at 80\/12 with GOPers. But now we find him below 50% in all three of these states: he&#8217;s at 45\/28 in Ohio, 46\/29 in Tennessee, and 44\/30 in Georgia.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">It&#8217;s not exactly surprising to learn that Rush&#8217;s slut crusade hasn&#8217;t worked out very well for him.
