{"id":7211,"date":"2012-02-20T00:00:43","date_gmt":"2012-02-20T08:00:43","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=7211"},"modified":"2012-02-20T00:00:43","modified_gmt":"2012-02-20T08:00:43","slug":"obamas-policies-are-working","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2012\/02\/20\/obamas-policies-are-working\/","title":{"rendered":"Obama&#8217;s Policies Are Working"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Early in the Obama administration, Republicans kept blaming him for the economy.&#160; They called the recession that their policies had caused the Obama economy.&#160; They called the job losses they had brought about Obama\u2019s unemployment.&#160; They promised new ideas to fix the economy, but never came up with anything more that more and bigger tax cuts for and less regulation on millionaires, billionaires and corporate criminals.&#160; In short, they offered only more of what caused the mess.&#160; Now they are talking less about the economy.&#160; When they do mention it, they usually lie and say it\u2019s getting worse.&#160; When they cannot escape an improvement, they lie to try to take the credit for themselves.&#160; But mostly, they are advancing their extreme social agenda out of desperation.&#160; They will do anything keep people from realizing that Obama\u2019s policies are working.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"20bikini\" border=\"0\" alt=\"20bikini\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/02\/20bikini.jpg\" width=\"362\" height=\"219\" \/>President Obama had barely taken the oath of office when <strong>Republicans announced their highest priority was to make sure his presidency would fail<\/strong>. Nearly every day since, they\u2019ve proclaimed his every policy move a failure. Whenever the news was bad, Republicans blame our president. For instance when the stock market fell below 700 points (on the S&amp;P index), my conservative friends called it \u201cObama\u2019s economy.\u201d But now that his policies are working, and the <a href=\"http:\/\/host.madison.com\/ct\/news\/opinion\/column\/dave_zweifel\/plain-talk-actually-obama-has-made-the-economy-better\/article_7be20eaa-c447-53fe-862d-3a7290e29654.html\" target=\"_blank\">market is flirting with 1,300 again<\/a>, they ignore it.<\/p>\n<p>And there are many more improvements documented at that link. The unemployment rate is dropping. Jobs are being created. The auto industry is making a comeback. Manufacturing is improving. The GDP has shown growth in numerous consecutive quarters. <strong>President Obama should be getting credit for it<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Instead, even today on the campaign trail, the Republican candidates repeat the same tired refrain. They tell the voters \u201cObama\u2019s policies failed.\u201d But is that true? The evidence suggests it is not. <strong>Despite the Republican party\u2019s best efforts to thwart him, they were only able to slow the recovery down<\/strong>. So sure, the recovery is not as advanced as anyone would like, but the vast majority of economic experts agree, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/blogs\/ezra-klein\/post\/the-stimulus-bill-three-years-later\/2012\/02\/17\/gIQAdS2LKR_blog.html\" target=\"_blank\">the Recovery Act worked<\/a>\u2026 [<em>emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.detroitnews.com\/politics\/2012\/02\/18\/president-obamas-policies-succeeded\/\" target=\"_blank\">Detroit News<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Sure, there are some things Obama had done that I have not liked, and there have been some things I consider necessary that Obama has not done.
