{"id":6859,"date":"2012-01-22T00:06:53","date_gmt":"2012-01-22T08:06:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=6859"},"modified":"2012-01-22T00:06:54","modified_gmt":"2012-01-22T08:06:54","slug":"afghanistan-will-sarko-bail","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2012\/01\/22\/afghanistan-will-sarko-bail\/","title":{"rendered":"Afghanistan: Will Sarko Bail?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">When Obama was running for President, he stated his intent to try to win the war in Afghanistan.&#160; In his defense, I think that few knew just how much the total incompetence of the Republican Bush Regime had made the war unwinnable.&#160; Nevertheless, Obama has failed to adapt to that situation.&#160; Part of the problem is that he is working with other countries and has committed not to leave them hanging.&#160; But conditions on the ground have gotten so bad that our allies are&#160; tiring of this senseless conflict.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><strong><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"21sarko\" border=\"0\" alt=\"21sarko\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/21sarko.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"202\" \/>President Nicolas Sarkozy of France suspended military operations as part of the American-led coalition in Afghanistan on Friday and said he was considering an early pullout of his nation\u2019s forces after an Afghan soldier shot and killed four French soldiers on a base in eastern Afghanistan<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A Western official said Mr. Sarkozy\u2019s threat could lay bare \u201creal cracks in the coalition\u201d at a time when the alliance is seeking a cohesive position to assure the Afghan government of its long-term commitment and to push the Taliban insurgents to negotiate a peace deal rather than continue fighting. <\/p>\n<p>It was the second fatal attack in a month involving an Afghan soldier opening fire on French troops and came at a time when American forces are deeply concerned about <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2012\/01\/20\/world\/asia\/afghan-soldiers-step-up-killings-of-allied-forces.html?_r=1&amp;hp\" target=\"_blank\">increasing numbers of killings<\/a> of American and other allied forces by the Afghan soldiers they fight alongside and train.
