{"id":6801,"date":"2012-01-17T00:03:48","date_gmt":"2012-01-17T08:03:48","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=6801"},"modified":"2012-01-17T00:58:35","modified_gmt":"2012-01-17T08:58:35","slug":"livid-theocons-claim-voter-fraud","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2012\/01\/17\/livid-theocons-claim-voter-fraud\/","title":{"rendered":"Livid Theocons Claim Voter Fraud"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">Rick \u201cGoogle Me\u201d Santorum thought he had the unified endorsement of the Theocon and InsaniTEA wings of the Republican Party.\u00a0 However the endorsement is not so clear as it seemed when Tony Perkins lied to America, announcing a consensus\u00a0 of support for Santorum.\u00a0 This is the first time I have ever used the Washington Times, an extreme Republican paper, as a source.\u00a0 I am doing so now to avoid claims of bias.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"17santorum\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/17santorum.jpg\" alt=\"17santorum\" width=\"360\" height=\"240\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" \/>A civil war is breaking out among evangelical leaders over <strong>allegations of a rigged election and ballot stuffing at a Saturday gathering of religious and social conservatives<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>At the meeting about 150 religious conservative activists at the Benham, Texas, ranch of Nancy and Paul Pressler, Rick Santorum supporters claimed the former Pennsylvania senator was chosen on the third ballot as the consensus candidate to try to stop Mitt Romney\u2019s march to the Republican presidential nomination.<\/p>\n<p>The meeting was called to avoid a continued division within social conservatives\u2019 ranks.<\/p>\n<p>But in back-and-forth emails, Protestant fundamentalist leaders who attended \u2013 most of them backing former House Speaker Newt Gingrich to be the anti-Romney candidate \u2014 are accusing Catholic participants of <strong>conniving to rig the vote<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>They said they were conned into leaving after the second ballot on Saturday. They said pro-Santorum participants held a third ballot which Mr. Santorum won with more than 70 percent of the vote \u2014 far higher than the nine-vote margin he won on the first ballot.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cMy view is that the vote was manipulated,\u201d said a prominent social conservative who asked not to be named.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Now, a prominent evangelical political organizer is saying to others confidentially he has evidence that in a least one instance a participant was seen writing Mr. Santorum\u2019s name on four separate ballots and putting them in the ballot box<\/strong>&#8230;
