{"id":6767,"date":"2012-01-15T00:11:58","date_gmt":"2012-01-15T08:11:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=6767"},"modified":"2012-01-15T00:29:32","modified_gmt":"2012-01-15T08:29:32","slug":"evangelical-leaders-choose-hatemonger","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2012\/01\/15\/evangelical-leaders-choose-hatemonger\/","title":{"rendered":"Evangelical Leaders Choose Hatemonger"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">While the Neocon, Corporacon and Plutocon wings of the Republican Party appear to be coalescing around vulture capitalist, Mitt Romney, the Republican Theocon and InsaniTEA wings are appalled at the possibility that someone they consider a heretic might get the Republican nomination.\u00a0 They correctly recognized that splitting their support between three followers of Republican Supply-side Jesus (not the real one) was helping Romney, so they met this weekend to choose their unified anti-Romney savior.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote><p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"15Hate\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/15Hate.jpg\" alt=\"15Hate\" width=\"360\" height=\"270\" align=\"left\" border=\"0\" \/>Former senator Rick Santorum has emerged as the choice of <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/politics\/conservative-activists-scrambling-for-a-strategy-to-block-romney\/2012\/01\/10\/gIQAVFATpP_story.html\" target=\"_blank\">more than 150 evangelical leaders who huddled at a Texas ranch Friday night<\/a> to debate their preferred candidate in the GOP presidential race.<\/p>\n<p>The move represents an eleventh-hour effort by social conservatives one week out from the crucial South Carolina primary to unify around a single candidate and blunt the momentum of former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, whom many evangelicals consider insufficiently conservative.<\/p>\n<p>But in a sign that the effort may be too little too late, the leaders did not discuss any plans to urge former House speaker Newt Gingrich or Texas Gov.
