{"id":6695,"date":"2012-01-09T00:00:56","date_gmt":"2012-01-09T08:00:56","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=6695"},"modified":"2012-01-09T00:25:48","modified_gmt":"2012-01-09T08:25:48","slug":"buchannan-banned","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2012\/01\/09\/buchannan-banned\/","title":{"rendered":"Buchanan Banned?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><span style=\"color: #0000ff;\">MSNBC is, in my opinion, the most balanced of the news networks.\u00a0 While their daytime reporting follows a standard right-slanted corporate agenda, they have three excellent commentary shows in the evening from Ed Schultz, Rachel Maddow, and Lawrence O&#8217;Donnell.\u00a0 Providing balance from right are three continuous hours of Joe Scarborough in the early morning.\u00a0 Sadly, one of Joe\u2019s daily sidekicks has been Pat Buchanan, an ideologue whose racist comments have fouled the airwaves far too often.\u00a0 Fortunately, he may have gone too far.<\/span><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: right; padding-top: 0px; border-width: 0px;\" title=\"9buchannan\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2012\/01\/9buchannan.jpg\" alt=\"9buchannan\" width=\"360\" height=\"270\" align=\"right\" border=\"0\" \/>Can there really be a line that <a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/entertainment\/tv\/msnbc-chief-says-he-hasnt-decided-whether-commentator-pat-buchanan-will-return-to-network\/2012\/01\/07\/gIQA6bSOhP_story.html\" target=\"_blank\">even right-wingers can&#8217;t cross<\/a> when it comes to cable news? Or is it simply that Buchanan isn&#8217;t a good fit with the network&#8217;s plans? <\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">PASADENA, Calif. \u2014 MSNBC\u2019s top executive said Saturday that he hasn\u2019t decided whether conservative commentator and author Pat Buchanan will be allowed back on the network.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">Buchanan, a former GOP presidential candidate and a paid MSNBC contributor, hasn\u2019t been on the network since the publication of his book \u201cSuicide of a Superpower\u201d last October. <\/span><span><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\"><strong>The book has chapters titled \u201cThe End of White America\u201d and \u201cThe Death of Christian America\u201d and its author argues that the United States is in the \u201cIndian summer of our civilization.\u201d<\/strong><\/span><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in;\"><span style=\"font-size: 12pt;\">\u201cWhen Pat was on his book tour, because of the content of the book, <span><strong>I didn\u2019t think it should be part of the national dialogue much less part of the dialogue on MSNBC<\/strong><\/span>,\u201d said MSNBC President Phil Griffin.
