Some nuggets:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: verdana; color: #222222; font-size: 8.25pt\">Rep. <strong><font color=\"#ff0000\">Paul Ryan<\/font><\/strong>, a Wisconsin Republican who called the stimulus a &quot;<strong>wasteful spending spree<\/strong>&quot; that &quot;<strong>misses the mark on all coun<\/strong>ts,&quot; wrote to Labor Secretary Hilda Solis in October in support of a grant application from a group in his district which, he said, &quot;<strong>intends to place 1,000 workers in green jobs<\/strong>.&quot; <\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: verdana; color: #222222; font-size: 8.25pt\">Republican Reps. <strong><font color=\"#ff0000\">Sue Myrick<\/font><\/strong> of North Carolina and <strong><font color=\"#ff0000\">Jean Schmidt<\/font><\/strong> of Ohio sent letters in October asking for consideration of <strong>funding requests from local organizations training workers for energy-efficiency projects<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: verdana; color: #222222; font-size: 8.25pt\">The Environmental Protection Agency received two letters from Sen. <strong><font color=\"#ff0000\">John Cornyn<\/font><\/strong> of Texas asking for consideration of <strong>grants for clean diesel projects<\/strong> in San Antonio and Houston. Mr. Cornyn is the chairman of the National Republican Senatorial Committee. One of the letters was signed jointly with Republican Sen. <strong><font color=\"#ff0000\">Kay Bailey Hutchison<\/font><\/strong>, also of Texas. <\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: verdana; color: #222222; font-size: 8.25pt\">The agency also appeared to have received <strong>eight identical letters<\/strong> from Republican Sen. <strong><font color=\"#ff0000\">Bob Bennett<\/font><\/strong> of Utah <strong>recommending infrastructure projects in his state<\/strong>, seven of which were sent before stimulus legislation was passed by Congress. <\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: verdana; color: #222222; font-size: 8.25pt\">The <strong><font color=\"#ff0000\">entire congressional delegation of Alabama<\/font><\/strong>, including its two Republican senators, wrote to then-Forest Service Chief Gail Kimbell <strong>asking for $15 million for cogongrass eradication and control<\/strong> programs in the state. The state ended up getting a $6.3 million grant. <\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in; font-family: verdana; font-size: 8.25pt\"><span style=\"color: #242424\">It&#8217;s not just the WSJ and Washington Times that are paying attention. The Minneapolis Star-Tribune <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/politicalwire.com\/archives\/2010\/02\/16\/pawlenty_budget_relies_on_stimulus_money.html\" target=\"_blank\">reports<\/a><span style=\"color: #242424\"> that Gov. <strong><font color=\"#ff0000\">Tim Pawlenty<\/font><\/strong> <strong>used stimulus funds to balance his state&#8217;s budget<\/strong>. TPM <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2010\/02\/virginia-gov-bob-mcdonnell-then-stimulus-bad-now-thanks-for-the-cash.php\" target=\"_blank\">notes<\/a><span style=\"color: #242424\"> new Virginia Gov. <strong><font color=\"#ff0000\">Bob McDonnell<\/font><\/strong> has privately <strong>thanked the administration for offering stimulus funds to his state<\/strong>.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"margin: 0in; font-family: verdana; font-size: 8.25pt\"><span style=\"color: #242424\">Based on these and other reports, the Obama Administration is mounting an <\/span><a href=\"http:\/\/www.huffingtonpost.com\/2010\/02\/16\/obama-dispatches-cabinet_n_463602.html\" target=\"_blank\">aggressive defense<\/a><span style=\"color: #242424\"> of the stimulus program, pointing to the <strong>&#8216;slam it in public, beg for it in private&#8217;<\/strong> hypocrisy of its Republican critics\u2026 [<em>emphasis added<\/em>]<\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailykos.com\/storyonly\/2010\/2\/16\/837641\/-WSJ-uncovers-more-examples-of-GOP-lawmakers-privately-admitting-stimulus-created-jobs\" target=\"_blank\">Daily Kos<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p>I know you\u2019ve seen that chart before at other blogs, but the Democratic Party sent it to me in email and asked me to spread it around, and it does fit this article perfectly.&#160; As bad as things still are, that condition is a result of the disaster Bush and the GOP left Obama and the Democrats to clean up.&#160; Long term readers who were here during the previous incarnation of Politics Plus will remember that, during the last year of the Bush\/GOP regime, I often speculated that the GOP, knowing they would face major losses in 2008, intentionally allowed the economy to tank, even including the misuse of their half of TARP spending, to leave a mess behind that was so bad that they could blame Democrats for the effects of their own policies and use that blame in an attempt to regain power.&#160; While In have no proof that was their intent, inductive logic indicates likelihood.&#160; Look at that chart again.&#160; Things are not as bad as they used to be.<\/p>\n<p>Bear in mind that these reports of GOP duplicity regarding the stimulus are not coming from left wing sources.&#160;
