Now, it appears that the reporters financed by Singer are at the forefront of efforts to tarnish the reputation of 99 Percent Movement demonstrators:<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in;\"><span><strong><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Journalist Who Admitted To Infiltrating Protests To \u2018Mock And Undermine\u2019 The Movement Works For A Singer-Supported Right-Wing Magazine<\/span><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">. In a column posted last night, reporter Patrick Howley admitted that he had surreptitiously joined an anti-war spin-off group from the OccupyDC protests that planned to demonstrate at a military drone exhibit at the Smithsonian\u2019s Air and Space museum. Howley wrote that he \u201cinfiltrated\u201d the action and sprinted into the police along with a few protesters in order to \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/special\/2011\/10\/09\/339788\/conservative-infiltrate-99-percent-movement\/\" target=\"_blank\">mock and undermine<\/a>\u201d the movement. Singer is a <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/politics\/2010\/11\/10\/129395\/sam-alito-republican-fundraiser\/\" target=\"_blank\">major donor<\/a> to the Spectator, a right-wing magazine known for its role in the \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=TAzLeq1rsf8C&amp;pg=PA210&amp;dq=%22american+spectator%22+david+brock&amp;hl=en&amp;ei=AbXaTKCgDYSdlgev5YHjDQ&amp;sa=X&amp;oi=book_result&amp;ct=result&amp;resnum=1&amp;ved=0CCUQ6AEwAA#v=onepage&amp;q=%22american%20spectator%22%20david%20brock&amp;f=false\" target=\"_blank\">Arkansas Project<\/a>,\u201d a well-funded effort to invent stories with the goal of eventually impeaching President Clinton.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in;\"><span><strong><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Journalist Pushing To Discredit Occupy Wall Street Is Funded By Singer\u2019s Think Tank<\/span><\/strong><\/span><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">. Josh Barro, a journalist who has attacked the 99 Percent Movement in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nationalreview.com\/agenda\/279074\/argument-against-taking-occupy-wall-street-seriously-josh-barro\" target=\"_blank\">National Review<\/a> [Extremists delinked] and the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nydailynews.com\/opinions\/2011\/10\/09\/2011-10-09_what_occupy_wall_street_can_learn_from_the_tea_party_the_path_from_raucous_prote.html\" target=\"_blank\">New York Daily News<\/a>, draws a salary [Republican financiers delinked] from the Wriston Fellowship at the Manhattan Institute, a big business advocacy think tank in New York. Barro makes the same tired arguments, that anti-Wall Street protesters are too inarticulate and \u201cextreme\u201d to be taken seriously. Singer is the chairman [Republican financiers delinked] of the Manhattan Institute, and even <a href=\"http:\/\/thinkprogress.org\/politics\/2011\/01\/26\/140655\/alito-thomas-singer\/\" target=\"_blank\">oversees<\/a> the Wriston annual fundraiser.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">As Singer-funded journalists make their best effort to diminish the Occupy Wall Street protesters as confused idiots unable to articulate a clear goal, it so happens that these journalists are funded by a man who epitomizes the crony capitalist behavior of the greedy one percent.<\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in;\"><span style=\"font-size: 10pt;\">Singer, manager of a $17 billion hedge fund, earned the moniker \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.washingtonpost.com\/wp-dyn\/content\/article\/2008\/03\/18\/AR2008031802693.html?hpid=sec-politics\" target=\"_blank\">vulture capitalist<\/a>\u201d for buying the debt of Third World countries for pennies on the dollar, then using his political and legal connections to extract <a href=\"http:\/\/www.portfolio.com\/news-markets\/international-news\/portfolio\/2008\/06\/16\/Vulture-Funds-Sue-Over-Bad-Debt\/index1.html\" target=\"_blank\">massive<\/a> judgements to force collection \u2014 even from nations suffering from starvation and violent conflicts. Singer and his partners have used such <a href=\"http:\/\/books.google.com\/books?id=eA66sc2rGQEC&amp;dq=argentina+debt+paul+singer&amp;source=gbs_navlinks_s\" target=\"_blank\">tactics<\/a> in Panama, Ecuador, Poland, Cote d\u2019Ivoire, Turkmenistan, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. In addition to squeezing impoverished countries with sovereign debt schemes, Singer speculates in the oil markets, a practice which can lead to gasoline price hikes here in the United States.
