Jobs! Jobs!\u201d&#160; Since they took control of the House, they have not brought a single bill to the floor intended to create jobs.&#160; They refuse to debate or vote on the American Jobs Act.&#160; In fact, they avoid the subject like a plague, except to lie that they are pursuing it.&#160; To avoid the jobs issue, they turn to social issues, such as their war on Islam, war on immigrants, war on gays, and in this example, war on women.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"13jobs\" border=\"0\" alt=\"13jobs\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/13jobs.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"236\" \/>In what would be a major and <strong>potentially deadly change in American healthcare policy<\/strong>, The House of Representatives will take up H.R. 358 \u2014The Protect Life Act\u2014this week. <strong>The bill would permit federally funded hospitals to refuse abortion services even to women who would likely die without the procedure<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>As the law currently stands, hospitals are required by EMTALA to provide emergency care to anyone who walks through their doors. <strong>If a hospital is unable or unwilling to perform a necessary procedure, it is obligated to stabilize the patient and then transfer the individual to a facility that can perform the procedure and agrees to do so<\/strong>. As a result of the EMTALA requirements, the 600 plus Catholic hospitals in the nation who are unwilling to perform abortions on religious grounds, even in life-threatening circumstances to the mother, are obligated to transfer that patient in need of such a procedure to a hospital that agrees to perform the required operation.<\/p>\n<p><strong>If The Protect Life Act were to pass, this would no longer be the case.
