Mitt Romney introduced America to his foreign policy positions and advisors today.  It was a trip back into the \u201cmy way or the highway\u201d cowboy diplomacy of GW Bush, indicating that Romney is making a play for the Neocon wing of the Republican Party, since the Theocon and InsaniTEA wings hate him.  He called for a \u201cNew American Century\u201d, giving rise to memories of the Project for a New American Century (PNAC), now defunct because their analysis and predictions proved completely false, and their strategy, which was adopted whole by the Bush Regime, proved disastrous.  This must be what Romney intends, because many PNAC leaders are now in his foreign policy team.  When it comes to Romney, I agree with Seamus.<\/font><\/p>\n

\"8RomneyBush\"Calling for a new \u201cAmerican century,\u201d<\/strong> Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney laid out a muscular agenda for promoting U.S. interests abroad, saying here Friday that he would expand naval and missile defense systems <\/a>and repair relationships with Israel, Mexico and other U.S. allies.<\/p>\n

Romney said he immediately would review U.S. troop commitments in Afghanistan and would make a decision \u201cfree of politics\u201d by surveying generals in the field, but he offered no detailed plan<\/strong> for withdrawing from the decade-long war there. The former Massachusetts governor sharply condemned the isolationist policies pushed by some Democrats and, increasingly, leaders of his own party.<\/p>\n

Delivering his first major foreign policy address of his 2012 campaign, Romney said he would try to work in concert with multilateral institutions such as the United Nations. But too often, he said, they become \u201cforums for the tantrums of tyrants.\u201d Romney said his administration would act alone whenever necessary to protect national security interests<\/strong>.<\/p>\n

\u201cThis century must be an American century<\/strong>,\u201d Romney said. \u201cIn an American century, America leads the free world and the free world leads the entire world\u2026 [emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n
