{"id":6010,"date":"2011-10-03T00:43:34","date_gmt":"2011-10-03T07:43:34","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=6010"},"modified":"2011-10-03T00:43:34","modified_gmt":"2011-10-03T07:43:34","slug":"bloombergs-excuse-for-repression","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2011\/10\/03\/bloombergs-excuse-for-repression\/","title":{"rendered":"Bloomberg&#8217;s excuse for repression"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Mayor Mike Bloomberg is growing tired of the heroic demonstrators, who are putting his Wall Street Bankster buddies on Front Street.&#160; Almost all of the police violence against demonstrators has been perpetrated by high ranking police supervisors, not rank and file cops.&#160; From that I infer that the abusive behavior was motivated by political rather than public safety concerns.&#160; Mike Bloomberg is the the political boss there.&#160; While I have no direct evidence to support this, it seems likely that at least some of the violence would not have happened without his knowledge and consent.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"3bloomberg\" border=\"0\" alt=\"3bloomberg\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/3bloomberg.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"150\" \/>You remember billionaire Mayor Mike Bloomberg, right? The guy who had the expensive neighborhoods plowed during the worst snowstorm of the year while the rest of New York City was trapped? Yeah, that guy. Now here he is, trying to push the absolutely baseless charge that Occupy Wall Street protesters are harassing working-class Joes and Janes on their way to work. Why? Because he&#8217;s trying to build a narrative that will justify the coming crackdown.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Could he be any more out of touch with the rest of us? <a href=\"http:\/\/politics.salon.com\/2011\/09\/30\/bloombergs_annoying\/?source=newsletter\" target=\"_blank\">Read this story by Alex Pareene:<\/a><font color=\"#0066cc\"><\/font> <\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">\u201cThe protesters are protesting against people who make $40-50,000 a year and are struggling to make ends meet. That\u2019s the bottom line,\u201d Bloomberg said, presumably meaning service workers on Wall Street, adding that \u201cwe all\u201d share blame for taking on too much risk, not just the financial industry.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">\u201cAnd people in this day and age need support for their employers. If the banks don\u2019t go out and make loans we will not come out of our economic problems, we will not have jobs so anything we can do that\u2019s responsible to help the banks do that is what we need.\u201d<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Wonkette\u2019s Kirsten Boyd Johnson <a href=\"http:\/\/wonkette.com\/454037\/mayor-bloomberg-on-wall-street-protests-we-need-to-help-the-banks\" target=\"_blank\">correctly notes that<\/a><font color=\"#0066cc\"><\/font> every single word the mayor says here is utterly nonsensical, <\/font><span style=\"text-align: left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><strong>unless you are, say, a billionaire mogul with deep ties to the financial industry.<\/strong><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Everyone else knows that the banks exist to make huge amounts of money by screwing everyone over, but banks are generally run by human beings (with the exception of Goldman Sachs, a Lizard Person From Outer Space operation), <span style=\"text-align: left\"><strong>and those human beings have largely convinced themselves that they are very good and productive members of society.
