He claimed, when confronted,&#160; that he had not read the documents before signing them.&#160; I\u2019ll have a load of that for the front lawn.&#160; A rather more obvious example of Republican racism is Rick Perry.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"3Perry\" border=\"0\" alt=\"3Perry\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/10\/3Perry.jpg\" width=\"350\" height=\"350\" \/>Maybe it\u2019s been a slow weekend on the campaign trail (or we\u2019re all just bored with polls and debates), but sexual orientation and race have injected themselves \u2013 refreshingly, dare one say? \u2013 into the GOP presidential race.<\/p>\n<p>Specifically, Republicans are being taken to task (in some cases, by their own number) for what seemed to be the audience\u2019s insensitive response to a gay soldier who asked a question of candidates by video at the most recent GOP debate.<\/p>\n<p>Meanwhile, Texas Governor Rick Perry is under fire for the <strong>racial slur that was the name of his family\u2019s hunting camp<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>A 3,000-word piece in Sunday\u2019s Washington Post, reported from Perry\u2019s hometown of Paint Creek, Tex., asserts that \u201cIn the early years of his political career, Rick Perry began hosting fellow lawmakers, friends and supporters at his family\u2019s secluded West Texas hunting camp, a place known by the name painted in block letters across a large, flat rock standing upright at its gated entrance. <strong>\u2018N\u2026..head,\u2019 it read<\/strong>.\u201d (Except the story spells out the name.)<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOver the years, civil rights groups and government agencies have had some success changing those and other racially offensive names that dotted the nation\u2019s maps,\u201d notes Post reporter Stephanie McCrummen. \u201c<strong><font color=\"#ff0000\">But the name of this particular parcel did not change for years after it became associated with Rick Perry, first as a private citizen, then as a state official and finally as Texas governor<\/font><\/strong>. Some locals still call it that.
