I felt as if I were playing fast and loose – and losing. (“fast and loose” has nothing to do with speed – it was a grifting “hand is quicker than the eye” game similar to “which cup is the coin under,” played with a long belt which the grifter apparenly tangled up and challenged the mark to find the spot where a pull would un-knot the whole thing – make it loose.
