Because David Wu resigned his House seat due to a personal scandal, Oregon is holding a special election for fill his seat.  The primary deadline is November 8, and the general election deadline is is January 31.  I call it a deadline, because in Oregon, all voting is by mail.  Paper ballots minimize Republican tampering.  It is a system all states would be wise to adopt.<\/font><\/p>\n

\"29OR-1\"Democratic congressional candidate Suzanne Bonamici, walking a political tightrope between business and labor, says she hasn’t decided whether to support a major free trade pact with South Korea. <\/p>\n

Bonamici’s two major rivals in the Democratic congressional primary — state Labor Commissioner Brad Avakian and state Rep. Brad Witt — both told the Oregon AFL-CIO Tuesday they would oppose the trade pact, as well as smaller agreements with Panama and Colombia<\/strong>. <\/p>\n
