For people who claim to support the Constitution, Republicans surely have a way of ignoring it whenever it is inconvenient to do so.\u00a0 The First Amendment to the Constitution of the the United States protects the free exercise of religion, but Republican Bryan Fischer of the AFA insists only the religions he chooses should be protected.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"30Fischer\"Unsurprisingly, Bryan Fischer is not happy that religious leaders won\u2019t be addressing a ceremony marking the ten year anniversary of the September 11th attacks in New York. A spokesman for Mayor Michael Bloomberg said that they wanted to keep the focus \u201con the families of the thousands who died on Sept. 11,\u201d and the Wall Street Journal noted [Murdoch delinked] that previous events marking the anniversary similarly did not include religious speakers and that there \u201cwill be an interfaith event recognizing first responders on Sept. 6.\u201d<\/p>\n

But Fischer believes that Bloomberg is up to something more sinister<\/strong>. By failing to include religious speakers, Fischer insists that Bloomberg is \u201cplaying favorites, and his favoritism is heavily stacked toward Muslims<\/strong>.\u201d<\/p>\n

According to Fischer [Supply-side pseudo-Christian delinked], such public prayers should \u201cbe reserved for Christians and Jews,\u201d (although he goes on to leave out the latter when he calls for prayer to be restricted to \u201cthe Father of the Lord Jesus Christ.\u201d)<\/strong> Fischer explains that the Founding Fathers would have wanted it that way because Muslims \u201cpray to a different god.\u201d Of course, as we pointed out on Friday<\/a>, the AFA made clear that Christians and Jews \u201cdo not worship the same God\u201d and that Christians should build friendships with their Jewish neighbors to convert them\u2026 [emphasis added<\/em>]<\/p><\/blockquote>\n

Fischer\u2019s bigotry anti-American as well as anti-Christian.\u00a0 Republican hatred toward Muslims directly opposes both Jesus\u2019 teaching and his practice, as he honored people with faiths different from his own.\u00a0 Fisher is just another Republican Supply-side pseudo-Christian.\u00a0 His views do not represent authentic Christianity.<\/span><\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
