{"id":5699,"date":"2011-08-27T00:09:54","date_gmt":"2011-08-27T07:09:54","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=5699"},"modified":"2011-08-27T00:09:54","modified_gmt":"2011-08-27T07:09:54","slug":"just-when-we-thought-one-might-be-sane","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2011\/08\/27\/just-when-we-thought-one-might-be-sane\/","title":{"rendered":"Just When We Thought One Might Be Sane"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Like Diogenes of Sinope\u2019s famous search for an honest man, today we face a similar dilemma.&#160; Our search for a sane Republican candidate for President has been equally fruitless.&#160; And, just when we thought one might be sane, Jon Huntsman has turned out to be just a pretender.&#160; Like the rest, he would balance the budget on the backs of the poor and middle classes, making us pay more, so the super rich and criminal corporations can pay less.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 2px 0px 5px 10px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: right; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"27HuntsmanHat\" border=\"0\" alt=\"27HuntsmanHat\" align=\"right\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/27HuntsmanHat.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"293\" \/>As our friend <a href=\"http:\/\/www.dailykos.com\/story\/2011\/08\/25\/1010572\/-Huntsman-says-rich-must-sacrifice-to-reduce-deficit--but-not-with-highertaxes?via=blog_1\" target=\"_blank\">Jed Lewinson pointed out<\/a><font color=\"#0066cc\"><\/font> over at the Daily Kos, GOP candidate and so-called &quot;moderate&quot; Jon Huntsman called for some &quot;shared sacrifice&quot; from the rich on the PBS Newshour this Thursday, but <strong>of course that &quot;sacrifice&quot; should not come in the form of a tax increase<\/strong>. I agree completely with this assessment of that statement by Huntsman during the interview:<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Excuse me, but isn&#8217;t punting on that question pretty much the definition of hesitating?
