{"id":5681,"date":"2011-08-24T00:06:50","date_gmt":"2011-08-24T07:06:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=5681"},"modified":"2011-08-24T00:06:50","modified_gmt":"2011-08-24T07:06:50","slug":"racist-republican-rhetoric","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2011\/08\/24\/racist-republican-rhetoric\/","title":{"rendered":"Racist Republican Rhetoric"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">In fairness, William Gheen claims he is an Independent, not a Republican, which he was until three years ago.&#160; Also, I am not tarring all Republicans here, just the leadership and a major segment of the base, especially within the Theocon and InsaniTEA wings of the party.&#160; Nevertheless, I label this man\u2019s hate speech as Republican rhetoric, because his associates are Republican, his financing is Republican, and his ideas reflect the racism and violence of many Republican leaders, including members of Congress.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"GOPRacism\" border=\"0\" alt=\"GOPRacism\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/GOPRacism.jpg\" width=\"354\" height=\"335\" \/>While much of the political rhetoric on the right these days is <strong>laden with violent imagery and gun-based metaphors<\/strong>, outright calls for political violence remain relatively rare. But in the wake of President Obama\u2019s executive order last week that sharply limits deportations of non-criminal undocumented immigrants, that is changing.<\/p>\n<p>Yesterday, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightwingwatch.org\/content\/gheen-violence-may-be-needed-stop-obamas-war-white-america\" target=\"_blank\">speaking<\/a> with far-right radio host Janet Mefferd, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.splcenter.org\/get-informed\/intelligence-report\/browse-all-issues\/2008\/spring\/the-nativists?page=0,8\" target=\"_blank\">William Gheen<\/a>, the leader of the nativist group Americans for Legal Immigration PAC (ALIPAC), said that <strong>legal political activity may no longer be sufficient to protect America from immigrants<\/strong> \u2014 <strong>in particular, he made it clear, from non-white immigrants<\/strong>.
