{"id":5652,"date":"2011-08-20T01:08:45","date_gmt":"2011-08-20T08:08:45","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=5652"},"modified":"2011-08-20T01:08:45","modified_gmt":"2011-08-20T08:08:45","slug":"those-pesky-sec-records","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2011\/08\/20\/those-pesky-sec-records\/","title":{"rendered":"Those Pesky SEC Records"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">The SEC needs a major overhaul.&#160; For years, they have spent millions quietly investigation improprieties by Banksters and other financial players.&#160; I had thought that over the years they would have compiled a virtual mountain of evidence that might be used to free America from the thralls of Bankster bondage.&#160; I thought wrong.&#160; The SEC has become a revolving-door cesspool of rampant corruption.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"20SEC\" border=\"0\" alt=\"20SEC\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/20SEC.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"243\" \/>A powerful Senate investigative committee has met with and collected evidence from a <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nasdaq.com\/aspx\/stock-market-news-story.aspx?storyid=201108191627dowjonesdjonline000392&amp;title=senate-investigators-met-with-sec-lawyer-on-document-destruction#\" target=\"_blank\">Securities<\/a> and Exchange Commission enforcement lawyer who is alleging <strong>the agency illegally destroyed thousands of records of inquiries into potential Wall Street wrongdoing<\/strong>.<\/p>\n<p>Staff members of the Senate Permanent Subcommittee on Investigations have held discussions with SEC official Darcy Flynn and his lawyer, ex-SEC official Gary Aguirre, a person familiar with the matter said.<\/p>\n<p>A panel spokesman declined to comment on whether there is an ongoing investigation. The Senate panel has a broad mandate to investigate government and private-sector abuses.<\/p>\n<p>Flynn, a 13-year veteran of the SEC, and Aguirre claim <strong>the SEC trashed roughly 9,000 files since 1993 containing documents on inquiries into potential securities-law violations, including at several major Wall Street banks<\/strong>. They allege the files were destroyed routinely as a matter of SEC policy that violated federal rules, and that senior <a href=\"http:\/\/www.nasdaq.com\/aspx\/stock-market-news-story.aspx?storyid=201108191627dowjonesdjonline000392&amp;title=senate-investigators-met-with-sec-lawyer-on-document-destruction#\" target=\"_blank\">SEC officials<\/a> lied about the document destruction to federal archives officials.<\/p>\n<p>Aguirre raised the possibility that SEC officials could face criminal liability for allegedly trashing the documents and lying about their destruction in a letter to Sen.
