{"id":5611,"date":"2011-08-14T23:40:36","date_gmt":"2011-08-15T06:40:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=5611"},"modified":"2011-08-14T23:40:36","modified_gmt":"2011-08-15T06:40:36","slug":"republican-responsibility-is-now-undeniable","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2011\/08\/14\/republican-responsibility-is-now-undeniable\/","title":{"rendered":"Republican Responsibility Is Now Undeniable"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">I have received some criticism for partisanship and have even been accused of fomenting hatred toward Republicans.&#160; This does not surprise me, because I take pride in my partisanship, but unlike Republican politicians and pundits, I recognize that I am not entitled to my own facts.&#160; My commentary is honest in that I document the factual data upon which I base it.&#160; I do not shy away from criticism of my own side of the aisle, when the situation warrants it, and it often does.&#160; Telling the truth is not hateful.&#160; Intolerance of hatred, bigotry, lies, racism and greed is not hateful.&#160; And assigning responsibility is not hateful, because unless we understand how and why something is broken, it is difficult, if not impossible to fix it.&#160; The S&amp;P debacle is a perfect example.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; float: right\" title=\"15Collapse\" alt=\"15Collapse\" align=\"right\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/08\/15Collapse.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"272\" \/>This should be highlighted again and again, because it is very simple, very logical and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.politico.com\/news\/stories\/0811\/61147.html\" target=\"_blank\">very, very damning<\/a><font color=\"#0066cc\"><\/font>: <\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">A Standard &amp; Poor\u2019s director said for the first time Thursday that one reason the United States lost its triple-A credit rating was that several lawmakers expressed skepticism about the serious consequences of a credit default \u2014 a position put forth by some Republicans. <\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Without specifically mentioning Republicans, S&amp;P senior director Joydeep Mukherji said the stability and effectiveness of American political institutions were undermined by the fact that <strong><font color=\"#ff0000\">\u201cpeople in the political arena were even talking about a potential default,\u201d<\/font><\/strong> Mukherji said.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\" color=\"#ff0000\"><strong>\u201cThat a country even has such voices, albeit a minority, is something notable,\u201d he added. \u201cThis kind of rhetoric is not common amongst AAA sovereigns.\u201d<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">These statements have caused tea party Republicans to bleat, but, notably, it apparently hasn&#8217;t caused any of them to reflect on their positions.
