{"id":5477,"date":"2011-07-27T00:13:31","date_gmt":"2011-07-27T07:13:31","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=5477"},"modified":"2011-07-27T00:13:31","modified_gmt":"2011-07-27T07:13:31","slug":"voter-disenfranchisement-in-fitzwalkerstan-plus","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2011\/07\/27\/voter-disenfranchisement-in-fitzwalkerstan-plus\/","title":{"rendered":"Voter Disenfranchisement in Fitzwalkerstan Plus"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">From a recent article I did on <a href=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/?p=5437\" target=\"_blank\">getting a voter ID<\/a>, some got the impression that I am against all voter ID plans.&#160; That is not so, I have&#160; no problem with plans that ease the way for poor people, people without transportation, and disabled people to obtain an ID, so that such conditions do not keep them from their right to vote. I do object to the Republican voter ID plans that are designed intentionally to keep people who are more likely to vote for Democrats from voting.&#160; The Plutocratic Dictatorship of Fitzwalkerstan, formerly Wisconsin, is a perfect example, but that\u2019s not the end of Republican efforts to keep legal voters from voting.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"GOPWiscFlag\" border=\"0\" alt=\"GOPWiscFlag\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/GOPWiscFlag.jpg\" width=\"600\" height=\"399\" \/><\/p>\n<p>In May, Gov. Scott Walker (R) <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.aflcio.org\/2011\/05\/17\/wis-voter-id-bill-is-voter-suppression-in-disguise\/\" target=\"_blank\">signed<\/a> a <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.aflcio.org\/2011\/05\/17\/wis-voter-id-bill-is-voter-suppression-in-disguise\/\" target=\"_blank\">Voter ID<\/a> bill that could disenfranchise tens of thousands of students, seniors, poor and minority Wisconsin voters who don\u2019t have drivers\u2019 licenses or state-issued photo IDs.<\/p>\n<p>Now it appears as if the Walker administration is going a step further to keep voters who aren\u2019t likely to be Walker supporters (see list below) away from the polls.&#160; <strong>He\u2019s closing 10 Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) offices where residents can obtain the photo IDs they will need before they are allowed to vote<\/strong>. Supposedly, the move is to free up DMV employees to staff offices that will have expanded hours to provide ID services.<\/p>\n<p>But state Rep.
