{"id":5339,"date":"2011-07-08T02:00:50","date_gmt":"2011-07-08T09:00:50","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=5339"},"modified":"2011-07-08T02:00:50","modified_gmt":"2011-07-08T09:00:50","slug":"murdoch-on-the-run","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2011\/07\/08\/murdoch-on-the-run\/","title":{"rendered":"Murdoch on the Run?"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">After Rupert Murdoch&#8217;s phone hacking scandal in the UK, spun out of control, he followed typical right wing logic, he closed the paper, costing hundreds of journalists and workers their jobs, to deflect the scandal and save the job of one corporate criminal.&#160; It isn\u2019t working and, although it appears limited to the UK, there is actually a US connection too important to ignore.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"8rupert-murdoch\" border=\"0\" alt=\"8rupert-murdoch\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/8rupert-murdoch.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"252\" \/>The News Corporation\u2019s decision to shut down the British tabloid The News of the World on Thursday did little to silence the growing uproar over revelations that the newspaper had hacked into the voice mails of private citizens. <\/p>\n<p>In fact, it may have only fueled the outrage. <\/p>\n<p><strong>An outpouring of suspicion and condemnation came from all directions on Thursday, and was directed chiefly at the News Corporation\u2019s chairman, Rupert Murdoch<\/strong>, a figure as powerful as he is polarizing. <\/p>\n<p>The British media establishment, Facebook and Twitter users and even Mr. Murdoch\u2019s own employees questioned his move. Some said it was <strong>a ploy to salvage government approval of the News Corporation\u2019s potentially lucrative controlling stake in the satellite company British Sky Broadcasting, or BSkyB<\/strong>. Others saw it as merely a rebranding. <\/p>\n<p>There are already indications that <strong>The News of the World may be reconstituted in some form<\/strong>. The man who was overseeing the criminal activity, who subsequently engineered the cover-up and lied to Parliament is Les Hinton.&#160; Les Hinton is now the Publisher of the Wall Street Journal.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Republican policy is to concentrate America\u2019s information sources in as few hands as possible.&#160;
