{"id":5277,"date":"2011-07-01T02:22:41","date_gmt":"2011-07-01T09:22:41","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=5277"},"modified":"2011-07-01T02:22:41","modified_gmt":"2011-07-01T09:22:41","slug":"how-republicans-sabotage-america","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2011\/07\/01\/how-republicans-sabotage-america\/","title":{"rendered":"How Republicans Sabotage America"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">It finally happened.&#160; A Senate Democrat actually grew a pair, and not just little ones.&#160; He grew BIG BRASS ones.&#160; Chuck Schumer (D-NY) actually came out and said what many of us have been saying for years.&#160; Republicans are sabotaging America\u2019s economy, causing untold suffering on Main Street, for political gain.&#160; Both Keith Olbermann and Rachel Maddow took this to the bank.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; float: right\" title=\"1brass-balls\" alt=\"1brass-balls\" align=\"right\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/07\/1brass-balls.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"311\" \/>&#8230;And now, Senator Schumer has hammered that home in <a href=\"http:\/\/www.epi.org\/pages\/7254\/\" target=\"_blank\">this speech at EPI<\/a><font color=\"#0066cc\"><\/font>. <\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><strong>And we need to start asking ourselves an uncomfortable question \u2013 are Republicans slowing down the recovery on purpose for political gain in 2012? It&#8217;s one thing for them to block programs they have always opposed. But when they start to contradict themselves by opposing programs they have supported\u2014such as pro-business tax cuts\u2014we are left to wonder.<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">&#160;<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Let&#8217;s not forget \u2013 Senator McConnell made it clear last October that his number one priority, above everything else, is to defeat President Obama.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">And now it is becoming clear that insisting on a slash-and-burn approach may be part of this plan \u2013 it has a double-benefit for Republicans: it is ideologically tidy and it undermines the economic recovery, which they think only helps them in 2012.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><strong>The result is that Republicans aren\u2018t just opposing the President any more. They are opposing the economic recovery itself \u2013 and all that means for America&#8217;s working and middle class families.<\/strong><\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">It&#8217;s about damn time someone called the naked emperor out. I am so tired of hearing the press memes about Obama this, Obama that, and how it&#8217;s all going to land on the head of Obama. I disagree.&#160; There are still some here that have been with me for several years and will remember this.&#160; During the primaries in early 2008, I predicted this.&#160; I said that Republicans knew they were loosing and would do everything they could to tank the economy and obstruct recovery so they could blame Democrats and present themselves as saviors in 2010 and 2012.&#160; Obama was promising to govern in a bipartisan manner, and I said that would be impossible, because Republicans would not negotiate in good faith in their attempt to regain power.&#160; If I could peg this over three years ago, before Obama was even the Democratic nominee, it was not a bridge too far six months ago.<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Republicans have two agendas: class warfare and establishing a permanent regime of Republican one party rule to last 10,000 years.&#160;
