Mark Woodley (@MarkWoodleyTV) <a href=\"https:\/\/twitter.com\/MarkWoodleyTV\/status\/1605961457337712640?ref_src=twsrc%5Etfw\">December 22, 2022<\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><script async src=\"https:\/\/platform.twitter.com\/widgets.js\" charset=\"utf-8\"><\/script><\/p>\n<p>The next thing he knew, the movie director <strong><em>Judd Apatow<\/em><\/strong> and the actor <strong><em>Josh Gad<\/em><\/strong> (voice of Olaf) were retweeting him.\u00a0 And his humorous antics have since been covered by NBC\u2019s <em>\u201cToday Show\u201d<\/em> as well as <em>The New York Times<\/em> and even the <em>Wall Street Journal.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-full wp-image-50284\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Weather_Sports_Crotchety_WSJ.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"666\" height=\"731\" srcset=\"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Weather_Sports_Crotchety_WSJ.jpg 666w, https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Weather_Sports_Crotchety_WSJ-273x300.jpg 273w, https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/12\/Weather_Sports_Crotchety_WSJ-137x150.jpg 137w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 666px) 100vw, 666px\" \/><\/p>\n<p>Besides putting on his heavy winter togs, Mark Woodley also put on a grimace to head out into the subzero temps to report on the impending blizzard.<\/p>\n<p>Woodley noted that he usually does the evening news stint which run <strong><em>\u201cfor only 30 minutes and are generally inside.&#8221;<\/em><\/strong> \u00a0So, he started the first of his 14 freezing outdoor reports explaining why he was covering the weather instead of sports.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;I usually do sports; everything here is canceled for the next couple days, so what better time to ask the sports guy to come in about five hours earlier than he would normally wake up, go stand out in the wind and the snow and the cold and tell other people not to do the same.&#8221; <\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>He got grouchier and grouchier as the three-plus-hour-long morning news show slogged on.\u00a0 And the warm and cozy staff inside was loving it!<\/p>\n<p>Woodley handled their ribbing expertly:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;This is a <em><u>really<\/u><\/em> long show. \u00a0Tune in for the next couple hours to watch me progressively get crankier and crankier.&#8221; <\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>We\u2019re all familiar with the local TV news folks&#8217; banter, so it was no surprise when Woodley seemed to quibble over a colleague\u2019s assignment tracking the impending storm inside the station\u2019s warm van.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;Clint got the better end of that deal \u2014 that thing&#8217;s heated.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>\u00a0<\/strong><strong>&#8220;The outdoors currently is <em><u>not<\/u><\/em> heated.&#8221;<\/strong><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>As is not uncommon, the temperature outside continued to fall throughout the morning show, even as the sun was slowly coming up.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><strong>&#8220;I&#8217;ve got good news and bad news: The good news is I can still feel my face right now.
