Soylent Green making yet another one of his wingnutty libertarian points? Whatever the explanation, I&#8217;m sure it&#8217;s just fine. It&#8217;s not as if there are any <a style=\"text-align: left\" href=\"http:\/\/www.wctv.tv\/floridanews\/headlines\/Florida_Wont_Get_357M_Federal_Health_Grant_122821024.html\"><font color=\"#0066cc\">sick or elderly people<\/font><\/a> in Florida anyway!<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Gov. Rick Scott continues on his merry wingnut way. It&#8217;s not as if there are actual people attached to his policy choices!<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">In March, Gov. Rick Scott\u2019s staff said he would accept a $35.7 million \u201cMoney Follows the Person\u201d federal health grant.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">But the Legislature appears to have decided otherwise. In the 2011-12 budget Scott just signed, <\/font><span style=\"text-align: left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><strong>lawmakers failed to give the Agency for Health Care Administration budget authority to draw down and spend the money.<\/strong><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Patient advocates were dismayed at the omission, because <\/font><span style=\"text-align: left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><strong>the money was to have been spent on home- and community-care programs that let disabled and elderly people move out of nursing homes or avoid them in the first place.<\/strong><\/font><\/span><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">The likely reason seems to be that Scott wants to <a style=\"text-align: left\" href=\"http:\/\/www.healthnewsflorida.org\/top_story\/read\/state_cant_spend_35.7m_grant\"><font color=\"#0066cc\">throw a monkey wrench<\/font><\/a> into the implementation of the Patient Protections and Affordable Care Act\u2026 [<span style=\"text-align: left\"><em>emphasis original<\/em><\/span>]<\/font><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/crooksandliars.com\/susie-madrak\/why-did-florida-snub-357m-grant-keep-\" target=\"_blank\">Crooks and Liars<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">And Florida merely reflects the disgust voters everywhere have for Republican rule.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"1remorse\" border=\"0\" alt=\"1remorse\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/1remorse.jpg\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" \/>When several newly minted Republican governors began pushing through broad, unpopular legislation this year, they may have unintentionally aided President Obama&#8217;s reelection odds.<\/p>\n<p>Emboldened by their party&#8217;s midterm election day romp, freshman GOP governors in a few crucial swing states immediately began to advance radical legislation upon taking office.
