{"id":4972,"date":"2011-06-01T02:06:52","date_gmt":"2011-06-01T09:06:52","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=4972"},"modified":"2011-06-01T02:06:52","modified_gmt":"2011-06-01T09:06:52","slug":"an-improvement-in-the-aca","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2011\/06\/01\/an-improvement-in-the-aca\/","title":{"rendered":"An Improvement in the ACA"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">One of the many problems with the Affordable Care Act, disrespectfully known as Obamacare, is that insurance companies in the temporary exchanges for people with preexisting conditions were charging an arm and a leg.&#160; Yesterday Kathleen Sebelius announced a change that promises some much needed relief for those people.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; float: left\" title=\"1denied\" alt=\"1denied\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/06\/1denied.jpg\" width=\"329\" height=\"337\" \/>The government announced Tuesday that it will lower premiums and ease eligibility requirements for its fledgling health insurance program for people shut out from the private health insurance market because of pre-existing conditions.<strong> Premiums will fall by as much as 40 percent in some states<\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>The Pre-Existing Condition Insurance Plan, run by the Department of Health and Human Services in 23 states and by state governments in the rest, offers relatively affordable coverage for people who&#8217;ve been uninsured for at least six months because of conditions like diabetes or heart disease.
