It&#8217;s called, &#8220;Profiles in Ignorance.&#8221; In fact, so many newsletters were so informative today on interesting but less-than-earthshaking news the=at I was spoikled for choice. <a href=\"https:\/\/thehill.com\/homenews\/house\/3643393-portrait-of-late-rep-elijah-cummings-unveiled-at-the-capitol\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Elijah Cummings potrait<\/a> was unveiled Wednesday (there&#8217;s a grammatical error in this one &#8211; it should be &#8220;lay in state,&#8221; not &#8220;lied in state.&#8221;) <a href=\"https:\/\/heathercoxrichardson.substack.com\/p\/september-14-2022\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Heather Cox Richardson<\/a> has a good overview of presidential (including their staff) lawlessness through the years. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.axios.com\/2022\/09\/13\/twitter-whistleblower-mudge-zatko-musk\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Axios<\/a> has a story on the &#8220;Twitter Whistleblower,&#8221; about whom <a href=\"https:\/\/youtu.be\/aPL093zXv5k\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Beau of the Fifth Column<\/a> says, &#8220;If we were scuba diving together, and he told me my bears was on fire, I&#8217;d blieve him.&#8221; And <a href=\"https:\/\/thenib.com\/the-steal-of-the-century\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">The Nib<\/a> has an extended graphic story on the fraudulent lending practices of the nineties. The ruling\u2019s scope \u2014 including the nuances of how it could affect people\u2019s insurance plans \u2014 will be addressed at a hearing [today]. If upheld, the case could ultimately reverse one of the most significant reforms established by the ACA, with particular impact on the law\u2019s gender-based health protections.<br \/>\n<a href=\"https:\/\/19thnews.org\/2022\/09\/affordable-care-act-gender-based-protections-threatened-texas-case\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Click through for full article.<\/a> These are the same &#8220;I&#8217;ve got mine, screw you&#8221; jerks who think they shouldn&#8217;t have to pay union dues, when in fact without the union their pay would be 50% less (and they&#8217;d have no weekends.) I think if they don&#8217;t want to be a part of the community, we should accomodate them in that by kicking them out.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/www.motherjones.com\/politics\/2021\/06\/definition-late-term-abortions-mississippi-15-week-ban-supreme-court\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">Mother Jones &#8211; The Stigma of \u201cLate-Term Abortions\u201d Is the Point<\/a><br \/>\nQuote &#8211; As Laurie Bertram Roberts, who runs the Mississippi Reproductive Freedom Fund, puts it, the seemingly arbitrary 15-week mark \u201cwas right there where people start getting a little bit like, \u2018Well, why would someone need an abortion that late?&#8217;\u201d The reasons why people get them are often not all that different from \u201cearly-term\u201d ones; in fact, many patients want to get their abortions earlier\u2014but stigma, paired with the ever-growing net of restrictions pushed by lawmakers who claim to want to \u201cprotect women,\u201d creates barriers that push people further into pregnancy before they can get care. Yes, it&#8217;s from 2021, but still needs to be pointed out.
