{"id":4835,"date":"2011-05-14T03:22:17","date_gmt":"2011-05-14T10:22:17","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=4835"},"modified":"2011-05-14T03:22:17","modified_gmt":"2011-05-14T10:22:17","slug":"ron-paul-where-idiocy-and-racism-meet","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2011\/05\/14\/ron-paul-where-idiocy-and-racism-meet\/","title":{"rendered":"Ron Paul: Where Idiocy and Racism Meet"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Ron Paul announced his candidacy for the Republican nomination for President yesterday.&#160; Ron appeals to many on the left because he is strongly antiwar and supports legalization of marijuana.&#160; However, he is not a supportable alternative, because he would dismantle Social Security, Medicare, Medicaid, public education, regulation of criminal corporations, programs to support the poor, etc.&#160; He would even kill FEMA, abandoning disaster victims to their fate.&#160; He would plunge us back to the day of Herbert Hoover.&#160; In addition, he opposes the Civil Rights Act.&#160; He claims it\u2019s only over property rights, but his record demonstrates that he is a true Republican, that is, a liar.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"display: inline; float: left\" title=\"14RonTin\" alt=\"14RonTin\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/14RonTin.jpg\" width=\"360\" height=\"270\" \/>This morning, Libertarian hero Rep. Ron Paul (R-TX) announced that he will join the motley GOP presidential field, marking his <a href=\"http:\/\/www.sfgate.com\/cgi-bin\/article.cgi?f=\/g\/a\/2011\/05\/13\/bloomberg1376-LL3JB91A1I4H01-5DF22FF5BN00AKBL2MVD5M0N9U.DTL\" target=\"_blank\">third run for the office<\/a>. Offering further insight into his presidential sensibility, Paul told CNN host Wolf Blitzer today that he would do away with the Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA), even at a time of unprecedented need. <\/p>\n<p>Viewing the agency as unconstitutional, Paul questioned why federal funds should pay to protect citizens from natural disasters and concluded, \u201cIt\u2019s a moral hazard to say that government is always going to <a href=\"http:\/\/cnnpressroom.blogs.cnn.com\/2011\/05\/13\/rep-ron-paul-on-femas-natural-disaster-response\/\" target=\"_blank\">take care of us when we do dumb things<\/a>\u201c\u2026<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;Paul\u2019s brand of morality is particularly callous given the numerous natural disasters destroying Americans\u2019 homes and livelihoods across the country right now, from <a href=\"http:\/\/www.theatlantic.com\/infocus\/2011\/05\/mississippi-flooding\/100064\/\" target=\"_blank\">floods<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cantonrep.com\/photos\/x634515242\/Tornadoes-devastate-South\" target=\"_blank\">tornadoes<\/a> to <a href=\"http:\/\/www.life.com\/gallery\/59481\/image\/112553838#index\/0\" target=\"_blank\">wildfire fires<\/a>. Gov. Nathan Deal (R-GA) <a href=\"http:\/\/www.wncftv.com\/localnews\/FEMA-Disaster-Response-Timeline-120989179.html\" target=\"_blank\">requested FEMA to respond<\/a> to the devastating tornadoes that tore across the southern states, leaving <a href=\"http:\/\/www.statesman.com\/news\/nation\/death-toll-from-storms-tornadoes-nears-300-1441842.html\" target=\"_blank\">at least 290 dead<\/a>. Gov.
