It reminds me of my childhood.&#160; My parents used to tell me, \u201cClean your plate.&#160; There are starving children in in China.\u201d&#160; Too young to recognize the fallacy in that decree, I obeyed.&#160; Of course, the children were still starving and I got fat.&#160; Martin\u2019s crisis is that China has too many smart children.<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; margin: 2px 10px 5px 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: inline; float: left; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; border-left-width: 0px; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"12martin\" border=\"0\" alt=\"12martin\" align=\"left\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/05\/12martin.jpg\" width=\"240\" height=\"302\" \/>During a rally in Columbus for Janet Porter\u2019s Heartbeat Bill, which would <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pfaw.org\/media-center\/publications\/the-gop-takes-its-war-women-to-the-states#heartbeat\" target=\"_blank\">criminalize abortion in the vast majority of cases<\/a>, Ohio Republican State Representative Jarrod Martin came up with an economic rationale to pass the legislation: to help the U.S. compete with China.<\/p>\n<p>Martin <a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=JETEu45PmKo\" target=\"_blank\">argued<\/a> that since there are far more Chinese students taking AP classes than American students, the U.S. needs to ban abortion so women will have more children in order to rival China\u2019s academic dominance&#8230;<\/p>\n<p>&#8230;Martin was introduced by Porter, a radical dominionist and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightwingwatch.org\/content\/janet-porter-reveals-coming-american-genocide\" target=\"_blank\">conspiracy theorist<\/a> who had <a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightwingwatch.org\/content\/porters-fetus-stunt-falls-flat\" target=\"_blank\">fetuses testify<\/a> for the legislation\u2026<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n<p>Inserted from &lt;<a href=\"http:\/\/www.rightwingwatch.org\/content\/ohio-state-rep-wants-ban-abortion-because-china-has-too-many-smart-kids\" target=\"_blank\">Right Wing Watch<\/a>&gt;<\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Here\u2019s the video:<\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\"><iframe loading=\"lazy\" height=\"510\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/JETEu45PmKo?rel=0\" frameborder=\"0\" width=\"640\" allowfullscreen=\"allowfullscreen\"><\/iframe><\/font><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">Now, let\u2019s examine this.&#160; The problem is not that China has smarter kids.&#160; It is that they offer more advanced education.&#160; There, every child that demonstrates the aptitude to do the work gets advanced classes.&#160; Here the quality of a child\u2019s education generally depends on the wealth of the parents.&#160; I\u2019m not disparaging teachers here.&#160; The do what they can with the tools available.&#160;&#160;
