While many Republicans praised Obama\u2019s leadership, others contorted bin Laden\u2019s death into praise and justification of the Bush administration methods, <a href=\"http:\/\/tpmdc.talkingpointsmemo.com\/2011\/05\/how-republicans-are-claiming-credit-for-the-death-of-osama-bin-laden.php\" target=\"_blank\">most notably waterboarding<\/a>. After learning that information regarding bin Laden\u2019s courier came from detainees at Guantanamo Bay, Bush <a href=\"http:\/\/blog.american.com\/?p=31469\" target=\"_blank\">torture<\/a> apologists [propaganda lies delinked] immediately insisted that <strong>waterboarding was a key technique in securing the vital information<\/strong>. Rep. Steve King (R-IA) <a href=\"http:\/\/twitter.com\/#%21\/SteveKingIA\/status\/65039561755066369\" target=\"_blank\">quipped<\/a>, \u201cWonder what President Obama thinks of water boarding now?\u201d <\/p>\n<p>On Fox\u2019s O\u2019Reilly Factor yesterday, House Homeland Security Chairman Peter King (R-NY) jumped on the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mediaite.com\/tv\/rep-peter-king-intel-that-led-to-bin-ladens-death-came-from-waterboarding\/\" target=\"_blank\">waterboarding bandwagon<\/a>. According to former Bush officials, Mohammed, in fact, \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.philly.com\/philly\/news\/homepage\/121139389.html?cmpid=15585797\" target=\"_blank\">did not reveal the names<\/a> while being subjected to the simulated drowning technique known as waterboarding.\u201d <strong>He identified the names months later under \u201cstandard interrogation, they said<\/strong>.\u201d The C.I.A actually obtained the courier\u2019s name by placing \u201c<a href=\"http:\/\/www.nytimes.com\/2011\/05\/03\/world\/asia\/03intel.html?pagewanted=2&amp;ref=todayspaper\" target=\"_blank\">more agents in the field<\/a>\u201d in 2005 and \u201cintercepting telephone calls and e-mail messages between the [courier&#8217;s] family and anyone inside Pakistan.
