{"id":4512,"date":"2011-04-07T03:11:13","date_gmt":"2011-04-07T10:11:13","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/?p=4512"},"modified":"2011-04-07T03:11:13","modified_gmt":"2011-04-07T10:11:13","slug":"a-good-laugh-for-keith","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.politicsplus.org\/blog\/2011\/04\/07\/a-good-laugh-for-keith\/","title":{"rendered":"A Good Laugh for Keith"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><font color=\"#0000ff\">With wars, GOP budgets, assaults on unions, nuclear catastrophes, etc., it\u2019s getting hard to find an excuse for smile anymore.&#160; But, if you\u2019re really desperate, just consider the Republican presidential field foe 2012.&#160; It worked for Keith Olbermann!<\/font><\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" style=\"background-image: none; border-right-width: 0px; padding-left: 0px; padding-right: 0px; display: block; float: none; border-top-width: 0px; border-bottom-width: 0px; margin-left: auto; border-left-width: 0px; margin-right: auto; padding-top: 0px\" title=\"7Hopefuls\" border=\"0\" alt=\"7Hopefuls\" src=\"https:\/\/www.7thstep.org\/blog\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/04\/7Hopefuls.jpg\" width=\"575\" height=\"244\" \/><\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">In the new NBC\/WSJ poll [Murdoch Delinked], Mitt (yawn) Romney cleans up in a weak field, but look who comes in second.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in 0in 0in 0.375in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Among Republican primary voters, Mr. <strong>Romney<\/strong> captured the support of 21% in a broad, nine-candidate field. Mr. <strong>Trump<\/strong> was tied for second with former Arkansas Gov. Mike <strong>Huckabee<\/strong>, with 17%. House Speaker Newt <strong>Gingrich<\/strong> got 11%, just ahead of former Republican Vice Presidential nominee <strong>Sarah Palin<\/strong>\u2019s 10%. Former Minnesota Gov. <strong>Tim Pawlenty<\/strong>, considered a strong contender by political handicappers, remains largely unknown, with just 6% support. Rep. <strong>Michele Bachmann<\/strong> of Minnesota had 5%, former Pennsylvania Sen. <strong>Rick Santorum<\/strong> 3%, and Mississippi Gov. <strong>Haley Barbour<\/strong> with just 1%.<\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Very Serious People in DC just <span style=\"text-align: left\"><em>know<\/em><\/span> that Barbour is a contender. Well, it seems he&#8217;s a contender like Phil Gramm was. He can raise a boatload of money but in the end he&#8217;s a regional candidate with retail skills and nothing like what a modern national candidate requires. And Pawlenty? Not exactly catching fire. Still, Very Serious People say he&#8217;s a Very Serious Candidate. <\/font><\/p>\n<p style=\"line-height: normal; margin: 0in; font-family: \" align=\"left\"><font style=\"font-size: 12pt\">Of course, presidential primaries are state level contests, and in IA, Bachmann and Huckabee (who likely won&#8217;t run) will do well, Romney not so much.
