New York state Senate Majority Leader Andrea Stewart-Cousins is next in line to replace Hochul as lieutenant governor. She would be the first Black woman to serve in the role in New York \u2014 and her appointment to the position would mark the first time in U.S. history that a state has been led by a woman governor and a woman lieutenant governor.
