The Postal Service has been struggling financially for years. It promotes democracy. It\u2019s crucial to our emergency and national security infrastructure. And it provides good jobs,\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/click.everyaction.com\/k\/23783001\/268654969\/474910937?nvep=ew0KICAiVGVuYW50VXJpIjogIm5ncHZhbjovL3Zhbi9FQS9FQTAwMi8xLzcwMDI5IiwNCiAgIkRpc3RyaWJ1dGlvblVuaXF1ZUlkIjogIjhkMGM3YjNkLTc5NTYtZWIxMS1hNjA3LTAwMTU1ZDQzYzk5MiIsDQogICJFbWFpbEFkZHJlc3MiOiAianZkaXhAeWFob28uY29tIg0KfQ%3D%3D&amp;hmac=oS943V3DgLxbspU5JBnuNugoyDZeywpesp4vVd9VqjE=&amp;emci=a7ddd1cf-ec55-eb11-a607-00155d43c992&amp;emdi=8d0c7b3d-7956-eb11-a607-00155d43c992&amp;ceid=4709702\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"nofollow noopener noreferrer\">especially for Black workers<\/a>\u00a0and veterans.<\/li>\n<li>\n<h3><span style=\"color: #ff0000;\"><strong>Most of its challenges were intentionally created.<\/strong>\u00a0A 2006 law passed by Congress (then dominated by Republicans) sent the agency into a financial tailspin. The Postal Service was forced to slash labor costs and limited in how it can increase revenue.<\/span><\/h3>\n<\/li>\n<li><strong>Privatization is not the answer.<\/strong>\u00a0Selling the agency to FedEx, UPS, or Amazon would harm the consumers, workers, and small business owners who rely on universal service, especially those in rural areas. Nearly 99 percent of the U.S. population lives within ten miles of their nearest post office.<\/p>\n<p>Those buildings are public. They\u2019re\u00a0<em>ours<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>I\u2019m just as angry as my neighbors.<\/strong>\u00a0My mom\u2019s Christmas gift, which I ordered way back on December 7, still hasn\u2019t arrived.<\/p>\n<p>And that\u2019s just a gift. Other people&#8217;s prescriptions aren\u2019t showing up on time.
